Kim Son Vietnamese Restaurant
3614 Balboa St
San Francisco, CA 94121
b/t 37th Ave & 38th Ave in Outer Richmond
(Next to Purple Kow)

If you want some pretty good Vietnamese food I would recommend this !

(King Special Broken Rice Plate)

My favorite part is definitely the shrimp cake wrapped around a sugar cane skewer chunk !
Delicious !

Thanks for this bump. I totally forgot about this thread!

Recently had some fresh Ahi Poke at:

Poki Bowl
4750 Almaden Expy
Ste A
Blossom Valley
San Jose, CA 95118
(669) 247-7654

http://www.yelp.com/biz/poki-bowl-sa...f=yelp-android

It's Chipotle style (process not lack of quality) where you go down the line to pick your ahi, salmon, etc. then your toppings. Everything is super fresh! I had my bowl with rice. Next time I might have it as a salad.

There's another new poke place in downtown San Jose that I will have to try. Then another opening up soon in Cupertino.

Poke FTW!

Another place I've been frequenting is:

Kotetsu
2089 El Camino Real
Santa Clara, CA 95050
(408) 557-0822

http://www.yelp.com/biz/kotetsu-sant...f=yelp-android

I just can't get enough ramen! Especially now that the weather is calling for warm slurpy bowls of broth! Kotetsu is yummy and consistent. Try the black pepper chicken karaage as an appetizer

+1 for Kotetsu. Most people claim Orenchi as the #1 ramen as southbay.

I'd give it to Kotetsu over Orenchi by a bit - not waiting an hour or two is just icing.

I frequent the the poke bowl in Daly City (different owner) which is very similar to the one in SJ ! My go-to is the ask for more spicy tuna in order to get more goodness in my bowl !

I can dig it ! But in all honesty I can go there just for the buta kimchi rice plate instead of the ramen !

As much as a love ramen I do get tired of it .

But I never get tired of curry !

Must try curry spot in you are ever in SF .

Volcano
5454 Geary Blvd
San Francisco, CA 94121
b/t 19th Ave & 18th Ave
Outer Richmond

The pungency scale goes from : Mild > Medium > Hot > Volcano

My personal favorite is the Tonkatsu (pork) with either Hot Curry !

I can handle the spice of Volcano but I believe that the hot curry has a better balance of flavor .

Curry > Ramen

Curry > Ramen

I live a couple of blocks away from Volcano. Came here once. Had the hot tonkatsu pork as well and it was pretty delicious! Tried my friend's volcano sauce and it was definitely more spicy, but masks the flavor too much imo.

Fellow Foodie Thread >:3 !!

Just moved back to SF from the South Bay. Anyone interested in just having food meet ups? Still in search of the best burger - I've been told it's Sams.
