Actually more common here than Vancouver. (That's my host's 640 in front.)

When suddenly a wild 86 dealer!

Literally just 2 minutes ago.

We were hopeful that we'd be able to get some work done, so that's why we waited around. Either way, I'd have been getting paid whether I showed up to site or not.

At least this way, I am guilt free about collecting that pay since I showed up for work.

Received my social security statement today. Guess it explains how much I've paid in taxes since I started working, and how much I would be getting if I were to become disabled at current numbers.

Saw earnings statement and I made more last year than I did in the previous 4 combined. Granted, I did go from part time minimum wage jobs to full time IT work. Not going to lie, its a pretty humbling sight to see (even though I'll still complain about how I don't really like the job).

Sometimes I don't even know which road is really better, leave and try elsewhere or just put up with the crap and still have a job. Dam if you do and dam if you don't.

I'm walking the former along with a few comrades since the beginning of this year. We got the best severance package terms in the history of the company. Haven't found another gig yet but seeing how my old team is living in a shithole day in and day out still, sometimes I'm glad I got out early.

The rest of my old floor are getting the axe by the end of next month save for my old team which will probably get outsourced altogether soon.

ArchieLuxury is hilarious but he does have a point.

hmmmm.......you waited around ..... in a company truck, but didn't work and you got paid overtime; you would have gotten paid if you hadn't showed up .......hmmmm.

Where did my working career go wrong ??......

Welp, soulreapersteve, just you wait until you get your SS statement at age 66 (if there is any left in that fund).

So, you will be able to see how much you have paid in over the past 50 years and how much you are getting a month in disbursements.

Then, estimate how much longer you expect to live.

And if you think THAT is depressing, just grab up a calculator and figure how much your account would have in it, if the amount you payed in was interest compounded over the past 50 years.

NO ...... DON"T do that ....... just be happy .........

Just came home after spending a few hours at Pat's Acres.
We in the Portland metro area are fortunate to have such a great karting facility in our backyard. The 9 HP rentals are, for the most part, well maintained and geared appropriately for the track. It's always fun seeing the serious guys out tearing it up in their shifter karts. Good times!
