There's a difference for sure. But, does it move the car out of the "slow car" category. I've already seen one video that described the car as "boring" without F1.

As far as I know the FA20 is 175 WHP and the FA24 205-210WHP. Quite a difference but enough to call the car fast? I don't think so. A header tune on a FA20 would get you close enough IMO.

I drive a FR-S and am fine with the power. The engine is untouched. That's not to say I won't add power

Are you just pulling these number out your ass?
The normal non-tuned dyno is in the 170WHP range with 145-50 WTQ.
Which would put it at about it's stated from Toyota/Subaru power of 200HP.
Every time a manufacture says HP numbers its always at the crank unless they specify it's wheel horsepower.

Wow. Thanks for the kind words, stranger.

We can argue about actual crank hp for an 86 till the cows come home, but the point is there's about 40whp difference between the two.

Didn't that result in a silly compression ratio? Did they figure that one out?

C'mon. Even the CARB legal Vortech kit is around 300hp crank and 245whp. No way a stock FA24 will make than much power.

Like i said, we'll see what happens when the dust clears. There aren't that many out there yet.

If/when I blow my motor I'd be stupid not to put a fA24 block in it though. I'm following this thread to see how feasible it is. There will be a kit offered at some point.

I don’t think they could offer a kit since they have to machine the heads to match the larger bore of the FA24.

ASM already sells K24 S2000 swaps that ship on a pallet, motor prepped and ready to drop in. It wouldn't surprise me if they ended up doing FA24 swaps the same way.

I wasn't arguing differences in HP between the two engines.
I asked where these numbers even came from.

I have seen manufactures overrate power numbers before. The SVT Mustang and RX8 are a few. But I have never seen someone rate an engine at one level and then give a lower number for at the crank power.
The crank power IS the engine horse power so WTF is that 197hp?
