GR86 PCD

Anybody knows if the future GR86 still uses PCD 100 like the old GT86?

There was one spec sheet shown that confirmed 5x100 PCD, agreeing with eyeballing the pictures knowing the diameter of the wheels. This is not 100% (and won't be until we get the cars in the showroom) but almost certain by now.

Still hoping for 114 PCD as the 18 inch wheels looks very similar like GR Yaris' wheel which is 114.

Subaru has offered multiple wheel designs in the past that were simultaneously offered in 5x100 and 5x114.

I think it's safe to say the car will retain the 5x100 pattern.

The Yaris wheels are forged, and part of an option package on what is a more expensive car.

While I really do like the looks of them, I doubt they're the same unit (especially since you can see forged characters into the Yaris wheel, which aren't there on the GR86 wheel).

2022 subaru brz with sti parts is confirmed to be 5x100 so there is no reason for GR86 to be something else!

There was a discussion around this on one of the other threads where someone overlaid a 5x100 18" wheel over a side photo of a GR 86, and the bolt locations matches perfectly.

Actually, not happy they are sticking with the 5x100 PCD.
When I had my 86, it was my first car that did not have 5x114.3 PCD so I couldnt use my older Work Wheels that I used on my MR2 GT and Supra. When I sold it and got a Nismo 370Z I ended up buying new wider rims (11.5 inch on the rears). The GR86 was perfect opportunity to use the 114.3 PCD. Supra has the BMW hubs (hence why its not really a JDM chassis wise, its euro underneath, the panels are also made in Austria by same BMW suppliers).

If you're that desperate for 114.3 why didn't you just convert your 86 hubs..and duh bro, who you think you're preaching to, we all know the Zupra is a bimmer.

Car parts are global nowadays so many of the parts (including panels) assembled in Japan are not made in Japan anyway.
And none of the export cars have JDM parts since they are not JDM cars. JDM is not a designation it was simply made in JApan but means it was made in Japan for Japan. All of the others are JEM (Japanese Export Market) cars.
No doubt that many will be happy they stuck to the old bolt pattern so they can use the wheels they already have!

No, my comment about the Zupra is that Toyota's two modern coupes are not 114.3x5 which has been a staple feature for JDM coupes since the late 80s.

Subaru's STI is also 114.3x5 and they UPDATED the WRX to also make it 114.3x5 since the 2015. So Subaru keeping the 100x5 on the BRZ is economically a bad decision. Common design, common components mean better economic of scale... cheaper.

And modding your wheel hub is likely to void your warranty.

As a former supplier engineer for Toyota, yes I know how panels and resin parts are sourced and manufactured globally. Small volume vehicles will tend to be manufactured from a single source.

Many of Japanese Domestic market only cars (Kai cars) have suppliers locally. The globally sold cars like Camry, Fortuner, Corolla etc have parts from 4-5 countries as these countries have manufacturing plants. Some of the more complicated modules and parts are supplied by Japanese suppliers and these components are highly priced components... justifying the wages in Japan. So the simple to manufacture parts are usually done South East Asia, especially the global cars.
With the Zupra, its a BMW except for the badge, which was imported from a Toyota supplier. Some said Toyota designed the suspension, but not really, its sourced and sub-contracted from one of the big suspension OEMs off the shelf with minor tweaks. Even the suspension structure is BMW, so the Zupra is pretty much a BMW.

But going back to the point, the GR86 is VERY disappointing its staying as 5x100... even the GR Yaris is 5x114.3.

Toyota started the Supra-Z4 project, BMW was initially not interested. The car’s wheelbase, Track width, and even tire size were set by the Toyota design team, and BMW tailored their architecture to it. Even the suspension arm lengths were set by Toyota. That weird rear toe-out on compression thing that it does that everybody hates? No BMW does that.

Despite most parts having a BMW logo on them, the Supra is exactly how Toyota wanted it to be, both mechanically and styling.
