Subaru BRZ - Dual Zone Climate Temperature - Wrong?

Hey Guys, quick question

Has anyone here felt that the dual zone climate control temp is WAYYYYY off?

like, I keep mine at 62 and i swear it is similar to 72 in ANY other car I have been in.

If i put it at 70, it feels like i'm in an oven.

any input?

does it ever settle down to cooler air to get the car settled to the selected temperature or does it just continuously blow hot air?

it gets settled down, when set at 62, it STAYS at that temp, but i could SWEAR that temp is 10F higher.

62 in my car, feels like 72 in my dads avalanche, 74 in my moms Forrester, 72 in my brothers A4.

i've never had 62 feel so warm.

even the guy who is detailing my car said he had it at 68 and it felt outrageously hot.

thats odd. i did have an issue with my heated seats at first just never actually getting hot. turns out just pulling the negative off the battery and letting everything reset fixed it. could be a similar issue... the thermostat might be off and trying to compensate incorrectly. I'd give that a shot and see what happens. otherwise maybe find a cheap thermometer and see where it's actually at in the car. i noticed the temperature doesn't really fluctuate much inside this car as the weather changes around it which could create an illusion. i've left it out on a snowy day and it was comfortable inside and today it went up to 78 degrees and it wasn't really overwhelmingly warm when i got in. but yea i'd try just unplugging the battery first for it to reset and see what happens

62 is 62 is 62 in the car, i might try and find a temp gauge, but I'd have to figure out where the sensor is in the car and put it next to it for proper comparison.

62 in the winter, during 30f days, was comfortable, 70 was uncomfortable.

yea not sure where it actually pulls a temperature reading from. i had mine set to 65 today while it was 78 outside and it was nice and cool. when it was cold and snowing i had it in the low 70s and it was perfect.

You prob know this but just in case.. Did you push the AC button so that it lights up? If not you can have it at 60 and if ambient temps are 70 youll get 70.

That would mean he's leaking Freon in the AC system... Way too early for that to happen on a new car.

But then again, anything could happen... seeing how many flaws these cars already have from factory/day 1. #FirstYearProductionModelProblems

OP: I would bring in a temperature gauge/thermometer and measure the ambient temp inside the cabin manually.

It isn't the dual climate, it is the auto climate control. Just leaving it on 70 will mean different things if it is 80 degrees out or if it is 60 degrees out. I have never been a fan of auto climate control.

Automatic climate control systems in cars aren't like the system in your house. They're rarely accurate. Basically, adjust the temperature to where you're comfortable, or set everything manually. And it does depend on outside temperature as well as sun load and inside temperature, so the climate control unit may disagree with you on how things should be set to achieve a given temperature. You may want to check your outside temp reading to see if it's realistic. I've seen damaged outside temp sensors do some crazy things to climate control.

FWIW, 72 in my car is too cold for me on an 80 degree day. I just turn it up to 76 and it feels fine.

When I use the dual-climate (with A/C on), when I am on the lowest setting (dial all the way to the left) than nice and cool air comes out, as expected. Turn the dial one click to the right, so not that much of a temperature difference and its only hot. It isn't super hot like the higher settings but its definitely not a cool-warm temperature.

It's winter, its freezing out, and I am literally burning up in my winter coat if its anything but LO and air conditioning. Or OFF but than the windows start to fog.

Thoughts?

Only German cars are designed to leak freon overtime as a safety, Japanese cars should be fully closed systems.

Are you setting both sides to the same temp? You can only get the temps between left and right sides usually only around 3 degrees C difference in practice.

This car does heat up fast tho, it's exactly like a convertible with the top up in winter. I think this attributes to the small cabin space.

Sounds like you have a defect of some sort.

I leave my settings at 68 degrees and leave the car on AUTO mode. Every morning, (outside temp is 50-60), the car doesn't blow any air out. It's on but no air is coming out. When the engine heats up, it slowly begins to release warm air.

In the afternoon, (outside temp is 80), the car will immediately put the car at full max fan. When the temperatures are to about 68, the fan speed slows down and maintains it.
