CAE Shifter for Gen-1 + Gen-2 GR86

Just landed, looking at this is a piece of art!

Shown is the Aluminum Uncoat with Delrin POM White shift knob. Can't wait to get these on the car this week! The quality and welds of these are second to none, very excited.

Is this a second gen of the shifter? I don't see how this one would fit.

Is it going to fit the first gen without modifying the center console?

I believe the "old" IRP shifters were um inspired by CAE shifter.

From CAE's site.

AAF is bringing their shifter to our chassis too, it'll be out soon.

I mean, there is only so many ways you can design a shifter with that pivot design and lockout. It’s by far not exclusive to CAE.

It is purty though.

This is great news. I keep hearing that the IPR shifter has a lot of issues regarding rattles and NVH. Obviously that's a non-issue if my car was a full race car but less than ideal for daily driving. So, I'm keeping my eye out on this one.

Just received mine straight from CAE a couple of days ago with the aluminum shifter and blue shift knob. Took 4-5 days to deliver after placing my order. Total cost: $917.39. It would been over $1k+ for the Black anodized coating

Overall, the quality and craftsmanship in person are amazing. I'm getting rid of my STi short shifter for a direct feel, so I chose this route for street/track.

The photo from "systemmotorsports" is to be a WRX/STi version.

I've noticed one thing that has changed compared to the old version for the BRZ/GR86/GT86 platform is the nut bolt on top where the reverse linkage located is removed and now is directly onto the shifter frame. I'm guessing it is to help avoid cutting into the center console for clearance on Gen 2?

I'm not so sure about the Gen 1 for cutting into the center console as I'm still waiting for a couple of other parts before installing this. Sorry for the sideway photo since I don't post much on the forum.

Would be very nice if you don't need to cut the console for both generations. Please report back!

Will do! Unfortunately, after researching on the Gen 2 market. You need to cut into your console for fitment. This was posted on the CAE website. I believe on another forum for the Gen 2 platform, a member posted that he needed to cut the console as well
