Vibration during slow turns.

Hi,

I am getting a pretty obvious vibration through the car during slow turns both directions, as well as a kind of hum sound.
I feel as though it's coming from the rear, so I was thinking it's the differential.
My car was just serviced including the diff fluid and they never mentioned anything bad in the old fluid.
I cannot recall it doing this before the service.
Could it be quality of fluid? Or not the diff at all?

I am pretty sure this is from the differential.
Mine does that to sometimes, but not allways!

I guess I will get them to check it for me.
Would a different fluid (friction, brand, viscosity) possibly cause this?

How many miles on your car .. ??

Oh, I reckon I'd take it back to whoever changed the differential fluid and ask them what they put in it. Then I'd ask them to check the level, to make sure it's full.

Then, go from there ..... depending on the findings.

There are 123000kms...so like 80k miles?
I would expect the diff to last longer than that haha.
Yeah I will definitely find out what was put in.
I work at the dealership where our service is so easy.

hmmmm........I'd check the specs in the owners manual and make sure the fluid they filled it with was of that spec.

(oh, I hope they DID refill it after draining ...... )

I'd find someone to help diagnose the problem. Inside the car it "feels" like it's coming from the rear, but that means nothing. If it is humming and vibrating, it should be able to be heard/seen outside the car. Go to a parking lot with a friend and make sure of what you are feeling.

I don't see how the diff could be doing this, it makes no sense to me.

Yes I will have to have someone help but I can hear the weird hum sound from inside coming from the rear. The car only vibrates at low speed with acceleration during turns both left and right. Seems to do it more obviously once warm.
I checked the invoice and I think it was 75-90 fluid which I think is right.
I have to being my car back in Friday for them to look at.

Similar problem

I know this is an old thread, but were you ever able to figure out what went wrong?

I’m having a very similar issue, shop replaced my differential oil, and a week later the diff locks up when I turn in either direction going from stop to moving forward or in reverse. The whole rear end and steering wheel starts shaking.

They want to do an alignment and replace the tires before seeing if it’s the differential.
