Track days Norcal

Hello, haven't posted in a while but had a few questions about track days (my search button isn't working).

Looking around at HookedOnDriving, the cheapest price is $395 (sonoma) to $500 (laguna). I know that if you go with a group/club it'll be cheaper, can anyone point me in the right direction or give any advice on booking a track day? Thanks!!

Quick way to find run groups is to look up the official track calendar and see who is booked that weekend/days. Then google that group or event name and find out if it's open for the public.

Off the top of my head Speed Ventures is one.

OnGrid and SpeedSF are more oriented to Northern California locales

If you're a track newb HoD has good instructors that make it worth the money imho.

Track Night in America does Thunder Hill in the evenings on a weekday for well under $200 iirc assuming you don't need babysitting. I've heard good things about Golden Gate Lotus Club and Trackmasters.

Usually the pricier groups offer less crowded run groups or instruction, ymmv on what fits your needs. 86drive challenge a grassroots time trials competition goes with SpeedSF last I checked.

+1 look at track calendars, they'll list the HPDE groups that book the track and you can research the groups via Google for feedback.

I would highly suggest checking out SpeedSF and http://86drivechallenge.com/

There will be tons of drivers there willing to share their experience and help out. Dont worry about how competitive you may be.

Track Night in America is also pretty cool as its cheaper and you dont need to be up at the crack of dawn.

For some reason SpeedSF track days cost $225 this year no matter the track. Add $50 for instructor. You’ll need a Motorsportreg.com account to register and pay.

My luck with golden gate louts club is hit or miss. Since is members first you may or may not get to run with them. Depends how many members fill up the slots.

You also have NCRC. Northern California Racing club
https://ncracing.org

The days run between $189 and $300 depending on the track and time of the year.

Sweet! I'm also the owner of NCRC, so I'll be at all the events! I won't be driving on March 14th, too much going on. Definitely fine me and say hi!

Any review for 'OnGrid'? My S2K friend wants to track with me, and we're both cheap.

They were fine. I didn't have any problems with them. Follow the rules and stay on track. They also offer pre-gridding by lap time to reduce traffic.

Hi, new in the Bay Area and a track day at Laguna Seca is something I've been dreaming about for a long time. I have no idea what 90db is, but will a BRZ with a nameless catback be ok?

Any suggestion for a cheap helmet?

90 decibels is a sound limit.
You can download any decibel meter app on any smartphone to give you an idea on how loud stuff is.

Use that at about two feet away from your exhaust at WOT. That should give you a quick answer.

As for a cheap helmet they can range from $80-100 for a proper SNELL rated. Google can help you on that.
The reason why you want SNELL rated is because all track/organizations use that.
