Engine is quite noisy

What is it about this engine that after it warms up or runs a while, something suddenly changes and it starts making A LOT more noise? I know the engines make some ticking noises and that's normal, but it's like having the hood open standing in front of the car, except I'm sitting inside the car with the windows closed. It's not the chirping noise some have, but I wonder if it's perhaps related? I do get the chirp, but not very often.

direct injection is a noisy system. Almost a diesel type sound at idle.

You must be new to Subaru and boxer engines. They're noisy, ticking, clanky engines.

Yeah I am

The engine compartment doesn't do a very good job at insulating the engine noise from the cabin.

You do realize the car is designed with the system to do exactly the opposite!?

I rather enjoy all the engine and drivetrain noises and the engine noise generator, as long as there is no problems or anything, that is. I enjoy hearing things working. The DI pump is kinda loud, but overall I'm surprised how quiet the cabin is.

Yes, but that's for driving noise, not idling noise.

Everyone has a different choice and I used to have a 03' WRX. Love the noise.
