Talking Is 2nd gen BRZ a ripoff of the TagAZ Aquila?

I found this low-volume Russian car from ~2013:
https://www.kolesa.ru/article/novyy-...ila-2013-03-21

Now I can't unsee the similarities between the front bumper (the grille, the lip under the grille) and the side skirts of the Aquila and the new BRZ:

I gotta admit that I even prefer the more classical design of the sides of the front bumper on the Aquila over the penguins on the new BRZ.

[Note: I'm not serious, this is more of a joke. But still, the resemblance is uncanny. Sorry if I forever ruined the design of the BRZ-2 for you!]

glasses buddy...no resemblance at all. I look at proportions, not general shapes...

How high do you have to be for this to make sense? I’m not there yet

Yeah...

Frankly, I think the BRZ front bumper has more of a family resemblance to the MKIV Supra than the MKV Supra does by a long shot.

To people who think I'm serious, please re-read the last line of the first post

Found more info on that car!

I have to say some of the prototypes don't look too bad:

They were even thinking about a racing series:

But...

Also, did you know that the front end of Tesla Model 3 and Model Y was inspired by a Soviet-era shoe?

Please make an appointment with an optician. You need your vision corrected before you cause an accident on the road.

I agree. The front especially. The weird blade side-skirts at the rear jutting out, the hips, the placement of the side-mirror arms, the front fenders being more rounded but then having hard creases down the hood, the indent for the front license plate holder, the running light design. The front fender humps are more Gen-1. Sure.

I get to say this about once a week now but it bears repeating:
There are only so many configurations of aero design that make sense for a production level car. These configurations all will result in a somewhat similar shape especially in the front of the different cars. It is not coincidence, design theft, based on, etc that dictates these similar front ends and body shapes. It is just simple physics.

Oh and that actually looks far better than the new BRZ!

As an aerospace engineer who has done optimization of full-scale road vehicles in a wind tunnel, I can say this isn't exactly true. The ancient VW ad about a Golf being more aerodynamic than a Porsche 928 has some truth in it... Also the front of a typical road car's shape usually isn't as important as the rear for drag. It's no prob to move the air away from the vehicle, much trickier to put it back together aft...

It looks pretty crude, but the overall shape and design philosophy I approve of! I'd love for there to be a family of FT86 cars including a low-slung 4-door kinda like this!

Also, new BRZ looks way better than Hakone 86
