Excellent question. I asked Joel. He said, "At this time, I am only doing full carbon and dont have plans to do a fiberglass version". He went on to say if you wanted to paint, he would take $100 off and not clear it.

Hope that helps. This dude is really only interested in making stupid light car parts. He just recently made a GTR rear boot lid that looks phenomenal and weighs nothing.

Finally lol I'm here 👋🏻 I'm working on some parts at the moment but I'm gonna try and go through here later and answer some of the other specific questions and measurements. as far as the edelbrock goes I think it should clear fine with as far forward as the vent is. I'll post pics as soon as I can figure out how to reduce them down from my iPhone so it will let them post.

Confirmed fitment with the edelbrock supercharger today. It just barely touched the intake tube but was able to close with normal pressure and didn't touch until all the way latched. We also noticed the mounting brackets for his airbox were slotted and could have been moved down about an 1/8" and wouldn't have touched at that point. https://www.facebook.com/MPHfabricat...29530573844478

100% agree but with so many various setups it's kinda hard to make ducting that will work with everything but I've toyed around with the idea of making something to work with the factory rad, fans and support and then could be trimmed to fit various intakes or other obstructions. Would love to incorporate a v mount setup with this hood but that would likely be more of a one off project.

It doesn't have a full skeleton but there is a fully boxed perimeter skeleton that just goes around the edge. Because it is 100% carbon it is stiff enough that it does not require a full skeleton. Also because the perimeter skeleton is bonded all the way along the outside and inside edge completely boxing it in, the entire part becomes very rigid against twisting vs just having a full skeleton glued around the outside edge and spot glued around the center areas. This is a big part of reason the weight was able to be cut so low but still allow it to be a bolt on part with a normal latch, but it could also be made with a foam core skin only as a lift off hood.

Quick question. This cf hood latch to OEM or need aftermarket hood pins & latch?

Is it installed yet? Have you taken it for a high speed run? I have a lightweight CF hood and it has about the same rigidity as a potato chip. Very scary at anything over 75mph. I want a vented hood because I have a boosted car and the engine bay is hot AF. Please tell us your experiences in driving the car at higher speeds.

@MPHfab Ehem. I would happy to accept one of these hoods to test fitment with the Full Blown Motorsports kit. Heh.

EDIT:

WAIT A SECOND. You are in Dayton? I could quite literally come visit if you honestly wanted to test the hood on my car for fitment.

It does have a latch and that's all I personally use but it is always recommended to run hood pins on any composite hood.

There is a video posted to the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MPHfabricat...9824436148425/ of a string test going 80 showing it perfectly stable and I've had it to 95mph briefly off camera and it's just as stable. The carbon perimeter frame and the shape added with the vent are what keep it rigid as a whole while keeping it light and being 100% carbon helps the skin stay somewhat flexible without cracking or breaking but be stiff enough to not flop around from the air pressure.

The airflow meter placed in the front vent showed similar flow readings in cfm as the naca ducts at the same speeds did. With the opening of the vent at roughly 50"sq and the NACA ducts having 3" round outlets (7"sq each) so there is 72% more air being sucked out of the front than there is being pushed into the NACA ducts combined. There is a video on the Facebook page of a string test that shows how early on the vacuum effect starts to pull air through the vent (around 15-20mph) and it consistently gets stronger as speed increases. https://www.facebook.com/MPHfabricat...9824436148425/

@MPHfab - Joel, what do you think the effect would be of removing the rear rubber OEM hood seal? On a stock hood, the positive pressure in front of the windshield without the seal might cause stagnation in the engine compartment and prevent airflow through the radiator. But, in the case of your hood, would removing the seal compliment the two NACA ducts and increase/improve the amount of air/heat going out the front vent?
