The pics I see are all generic and different. If you go AEM buy from a vendor on here. I got mine from FT86Club.com.

I'd give it about a 8-10hp bump over stock. It's noticeable, a little more direct but really shines at higher rpms. I will be getting a dyno with the FA20Club header and unichip tune.

It's not the cheapest option but I'm happy with it. The only other CAI's I'd consider are the Vigilant, FA20Club.com, or Perrin. Just my view.

Those pics are generic and what you get when using a place like them. They have it mislabeled and misrepresented.

We have these on hand, did a review and have real pics.

This is what scares me. After seeing how fragile our spark plugs are, seeing these kind of "gains" from an AIRAID type clone tells me that the plug-in MAF "tricker" is causing the car to go leaner than it should. Not only that, but MAF calibrations can vary considerably from car to car (~15%).

Someone already blew parts of their spark plug tips off, I wouldn't even consider this intake without a proper dyno tune.

Just my .02.....

The AEM MAF Module doesn't really trick anything.

When the intake tubing diameter is increased to take advantage of the higher flowing capability of the open element air filter, there needs to be a plan to correct the MAF sensor reading otherwise there is possible check engine light ensues. The ETI re-conditions much of the sensor noise not correctible by other means such as a venturi or a “neck down” MAF housing and AEM strongly believe's this is the best strategy to provide the most consistent/accurate air flow readings to the ECU so no CEL is issued.

Hi! I got a 2017 BRZ and I'm starting to make some basic mods to it, nothing crazy(just changed the radio, coil overs and a short shifter).

I just purchased the AEM CAI that you show on your post and was hopping that you can answer a question about it... AEM says that no Tune is required, is this true? can I just install it and use the stock tune?

thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums

You must have done some searching to have found an 8 year old thread, the short answer is it will work fine without a tune but will be better with one. Just FYI most intakes on this platform don't really add any power as the stock system is pretty well designed. It will add some nice induction noise tho.

Here's a dyno. No clue about the environmental variables on the dyno though (temp, humidity, odometer reading, fuel, etc).. and they dyno'd it on a 2013

Also, here's a link to the thread where I installed the skunk2 powerbox with pictures (only like 250 on 86speed[dot]com)

https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144263

Really nice quality and has a removable restrictor for custom tune situations. I'll be getting a custom tune/MAF rescale soon.

Thanks for the answer!! i did researched for a long time hahah , no much information about that specific CAI.

I am also planning on getting a OFT next week I thought it might help with some gains in HP.

thanks for the help!

If your goal is to slap the tune on and call it a day stick with the stock box.
OFT does their tuning with it. Get a high flow filter.

Depending on your goals, you might want to take a look at the TRD intake also. I have one and it made a nice difference in the induction sound. Which was basically zero with the stock intake. The nice thing about the TRD intake is it’s set up exactly like the stock airbox, so you have the same safety as the factory setup. You can also pair it with the HKS air scoop. The downside is cost unfortunately. Also, make sure to do the sound tube delete.
If you are looking for power, a CAI and proper tune would be the way to go. But like others have said you don’t need the tune. The stock intake is really efficient and is set up in a great location, so the biggest gain IMO is the induction sound.

Duh, you have a BRZ, you won’t want a Toyota part, never mind! But there might be an equivalent Subaru part.
