Certainly good advice, but while I wouldn't say I have a ton of money set aside, I also wouldn't say I'm living paycheck to paycheck either. I always make sure the bills are paid and that I set aside a bit in my savings account before I spend anything on my car or bikes lol. The wheel/tire package I wanted just happens to be more expensive than my average wrenching purchase, so I just have to wait a pay or two to have enough "wrenching money" to pull the trigger.

As for the multiple bikes thing, yes I have 2, but I only really use one of them regularly. The second one was originally a gift for my girlfriend, but after a few times riding it, she realized that she wanted a different style of bike and she hasn't really been psyched about taking it out. So, outside of me taking it out every now and then to keep it running, its just sitting around. We had a talk about it, and since she doesn't even really want it anymore, she's fine with me selling it to help pay for my next toy.

Soon...

Honestly asking; are you not aware that gen y and millennials are the same thing, or just making a semantic difference between "good" gen y and "bad" millennials?

That said, it was kind of cool growing up in the 80s/90s as we got to experience single user dial up BBSes with p2p multiplayer on games via phone lines. Followed by multi-user BBSes with chat features (used to be one called Lancaster Online, but we mostly hung out on a friend's server named after a Pink Floyd album). The the actual Internet, search engines, advent of Google, rise and fall of AOL CDs being used as wallpaper, and so on.

I forget exactly where I heard this, but I heard a story about some dude's grandma who was born in the early 1900's and died in the early 2000's. When she was a little kid people were still traveling by covered wagons and she lived to see the advent of the internet. Madness.

I was going to type up a response to this on what we can look forward to telling our grandkids about, but it got way too political. Most of us can probably fill in the blanks from there.

Most of us didn't really have Internet until the mid 90's. It was still called the Information Super Highway.

AOL Compuserv Prodigy used to come in 3.5" floppies. But I never had a sexy external Hayes modem to use them with, nor did I have the super sexy external NEC Multispin 3x CD-ROM drive (I rank them as cool as NEC PC Engine w/ CD-ROM^2 that came ~10 years prior).

If you are just old enough to remember After Dark screensavers then you are Gen Y but do not qualify as a millennial imo.
