Lack of moderation of off-topic threads?

I've been noticing more and more "off topic" threads in the wrong sections, or too many cross-posting across different sections (BRZ question in the FRS section, vice versa)

I understand moderators don't sit there and police every day, but some threads go on for DAYS with no fix from the mods of the site.

What gives? Do we just ignore the rules?

There's a little triangle button in every post which will allow you to report it.

Report them and make life easier for the mods to notice them.

I'm curious to know how that causes a problem.

In a single thread, there's no problems.

In the long run, the quality of posts on a forum is reduced since we're not really following the rules. This is not the only forum out there, and the moment the value of the forum is lost, people will leave.

Plus, it adds clutter to sections that are clearly defined. What's the point of having FRS or BRZ sections when the posts are blatantly ignoring the separation of the vehicles?

"Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts."

I can see why some people don't use this feature more, as the wording is specific...

I've never given it any concern. When I sign on I go to 'New Posts' that directly under the top where it says FT86CLUB.com and review all the recent postings, not giving any though to which sub-forum they might be posted in.

Is this the only fix? To notify mods of bad posts?

Or is there some type of site-wide announcement needed for members to follow rules better?

LOL indeed. For a six month period I've averaged 241 posts since joining this forum. There are some that must be hitting it less than every 38 seconds.

Hm... Interesting concern.

It's impossible (for me anyways) to read ALL the thread that's created (just can't). If I see some duplicate threads, I try to merge em... but again, not all the mods can do em all.

If you see those duplicate threads, you're more than welcome to Report it or PM me/other mods.

Let me point a few examples (all from the first page in each respective forum):

Toyota Celica video in FRS vid/pic section:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41021

FRS vs S2000 in FRS vid/pic section (there's a dedicated section for "FRS/BRZ vs", it should be noted):
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40745

Tint question in FRS General section:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41139

Traffic ticket question (can be applicable to any car):
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14971

FRS pictures in BRZ section:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23821

I know the two cars are very similar and it's often difficult to separate the postings, but I've been lurking on here for close to a year now, and it's not getting any better.

I can just be silent about this but in the long run, if the site admin wishes to keep this as the #1 destination for FRS/BRZ enthusiasts, the quality of the posts need to be better than other forums on the web.

OT or irrelevant posts is one thing. OT or irrelevant threads in the wrong section is a much bigger problem, something forum members seem to ignore or gloss over.

Quoting for a bit more visibility.

Perhaps add a line about "reporting threads in improper section" would also help.

K, other than tint & ticket questions, I've moved em to the correct place. Is it hard to PM me or other mods that info? You'll be doing same thing as you just posted, instead you'll be PM'ing mods.

Tint & ticket thread, I don't see why they have to be moved. Both of em are FRS owners & they're posting in "FRS General" section.

There's a reason we separate Scion FR-S General Threads & Subaru BRZ General Threads. If you're being here lurking for almost a yr, you should know "SCION vs SUBARU fan boi war". Every threads, members fighting bout "Scion is cheap lower class POS!" or "Hippie morons owns Subaru!" blah blah blah. Or did you miss that? If you have better idea, please suggest.

Quality of post need to be better than other forum on the web?
How? We decided who can be member & who can't? Cuz quality of posts are decided by member's posts, not by forum admin or mods... or you means mods start ban hammering & infraction every new posts that were in wrong section? ...or maybe mods should get power to accept or declined all the posts & if it's crappy posts mods give members a infractions! YEAH! That sounds legit! I'm power hungry person, so more power I get, better for me!

Put the jokes on the side, from the sound of it, what you're saying is:
1. Get more mods.
2. Controlling all the new threads & posts.

1. Just say, we get section mods on all the section plus different regional mods... we're talking about near 30 mods we need to add... IDK about you, but that's one hellova mods name lists admin & mods gotta think. No offense to any member, but IDK I know over 30 members that I can trust.

2. Controlling all new threads & posts... how? Again, I don't have time to read all the threads & posts members make. Maybe @Guff might (slacker! lol) If it was back in '09~'10 prob. Please be specific on how admin & mods can control it WITHOUT admin & mods going power hungry?
