AVO owners who HPDE/Track... Any issues?
(Sorry if this is somewhere, I've searched and didn't find much specific info)
Just curious if you folks have encountered any cooling issues/things to address when tracking with the AVO kit? Specifically the base kit, running in the 5-8psi ballpark. How are you oil temps? Coolant temps? etc Thanks all

I have the base kit in an otherwise stock car. Never tracked it but on spirited driving the coolant temps climb from standard 190 to around 210. Doesn't answer your question but just my experience

I have the AVO kit along with the @DAMotorsports. Like any other kit I recommend getting an Oil Cooler and Upgrading the Radiator. Oil Cooler and Radiator are needed on any stock FRS/BRZ that is tracked, so it will be needed with any turbo kit that is added to the twins. If you plan on using it for daily driving, sprint driving and drag racing you really don't need one. I live where temps are 120 degrees in the summer here in SoCal. Once I get home I'll see if I can get you some temp info. Overall I have no issues with the kit. I installed it when my car had 2k miles on it and I am currently at 20k. With my Highest map set at 16psi the issue I run to is trying to keep traction... LOL Hope this helped.

Coolant temps have always been fine for me on the stock radiator. Oil temps are pretty high though. I logged 137 deg C in the middle of June. I would recommend an oil cooler. I would also recommend coming up with some sort of heat shielding for the motor mounts ( passenger side at least ). I melted mine.

IMO at the lower PSI levels, only an oil cooler should be needed as you don't have a front mounted turbo dumping heat into the engine bay. Upgrading your radiator should not be required. Oil temps on a stock NA car in decent ambient temps can get pretty damn high as it is

No radiator is required. This has been tested by multiple peopleon Cali tracks. The limits of the stock radiator have not been found. People who buy radiators are just throwing money at vendors for no reason.
I would recommend an oil cooler much bigger than the standard 13 row setrab series 6. I would go with a setrab 15 row series 9.

I would probably grab AVO's oil cooler kit, and I figured a rad wasn't needed, perhaps a lower t-stat as a bit of piece of mind at most. Thanks all.

If u'r planing on getting the AVO Kit, don't forget to buy the AVO breather tank. Otherwise you will get lots of blow-by, especially when tracking.

I saw that the AVO Breather Kit is a recommended item to buy along with the AVO turbo kit, but what exactly does the breather kit do? What is it?

I did my first track day in spring of last year when the ambient temps were at about 8 degrees celcius and my oil temps were still uncomfortably high. I installed an oil cooler shortly thereafter. An oil cooler is 100% mandatory for any boosted BRZ/FRS, regardless of being tracked.
As for a radiator, like someone else said, it's not really necessary. I've never had an issue with water temps even on days that are 30C. Even though I didn't need it, I installed an FBM rad upgrade with shroud and fans. Difference? None that I could tell, although with the hood up and fans going, you can feel a LOT more heat being pushed out of the fans. But I'm sure that's what the stock rad does when air is being forced through at speed. In summary: -Get an oil cooler -You don't need a rad
