I was driving on the highway when a BRZ with a pop/bang tune pulled up next to me. The whole way down it was just pop pop bang pop bang pop. I couldn't tell if he was looking to get my attention or was simply trying to maintain a set speed. I mean it's his car and he can do what he wants, but to me it just screams I need attention, everybody look at me!

I've alwyas preferred to be unobtrusive, rather not be noticed at all.

As luck would have it, when I was fueling up earlier this week there was a Nissan Z at the same station, pulling out as I was pulling in. It pinged, banged, popped, all the way out of the fuel location, around the parking lot, off into the road and disappeared in the difference.

There were a half-dozen or so other of us fueling up as this happened. After the sound was gone, we all just sort of looked at each other, shrugged and laughed. A couple of them did question the driver's heritage.

I tell this to ask, has anyone ever been in a situation where a bystander went 'Man, that's was so cool'?

I know I haven't.

And even playing cards were a brand new invention.

No. There was a Gallardo in town that sounded like absolute ass. Instead of wanting to be near it, I just wanted it to go far away. Somebody could get a PhD out of studying this crap.

The only groups who would think "its so cool" would be the owners inner circle and other car meet guys witht he same taste.

Out in the real world no one gives a crap and they find it obnoxious and just annoying most of the time.

Especially 4 bangers, they dont have a particularly good sound to begin with so having an exhaust that snap crackles and pops just makes it sound worse.

I remember watching a magnus walker video where he drove his old air cooled turbo 911 and it crackled an popped naturally because of the turbo. It sound pretty cool, but it was not over the top, it was more subtle.

This guy in a blue civic that drives by everyday paid extra for the mega burble tune. I mean every time he’s off the throttle it pops forever, like he is purposely not getting back on the throttle. It’s embarrassing.

Like Dadhawk said, it’s weird because you look and then you see a plain normal car and you just laugh.

My fear is it’s everywhere and there soon will be a pissing contest where each idiot needs to get a louder longer burble.

We need to start shaming this to put an end to it.

I do note a conspicuous absence of people arguing that bubble tunes are cool. Maybe they are already ashamed because deep down they know...

Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah

As much as I admire your enthusiasm, remember this was tried with the broken suspension (aka “stance”) crowd to no avail. The Kids insist on getting on our lawns.
