Looks like good timing since shit is really hitting the fan over there.
Probably a smart decision till they can reduce their outbreak numbers.

I really wish the US would adopt a better protocol like most countries have. Basically insist on two weeks quarantine in specific hotels near the airports, etc.

But of course people would never go for it…

Honestly, outside a handful of successful locations, I don't see it doing much good. At least for the US. They've had repeated surges in other European nations such as Germany, France, and England to list a few, despite their protocols. And Germany is fairly.. eh hem, socialist, and yet they have that issue too. The only true solution is some sort of immunization, natural or artificial.

We really shouldn't be considering we have a lot more resources and people can afford/have access to PPE.

The excess death studies indicate that significantly more people died over the last year than the usual death rate would predict. Some of those additional deaths have been traced directly to covid. Many of them are anomalous. A proportion, I don't have access to the data and didn't participate in any of the studies so I can't estimate how many, are probably due to covid. They are people who died at home and for whom no test was done. People who caught the virus and died in the early stages of the pandemic when there were no tests available. Last spring there were a number of cases where folks had died of some unknown respiratory failure. They had not been tested for SARS-Cov2. Months after the deaths tests indicated a covid infection. The dots simply line up.

What is it that the Vax acceptant, Covid - nondeniers are missing? Good heavens man, what are you listening to that makes these conspiracy theories so compelling?

Do the vaccines work? It certainly seems so. In December the virus was raging across the country. The vaccines were rolled out, first very slowly, then much faster. What happened? Infections dropped significantly. Moreover, current cases are concentrated most heavily among younger demographics. The elderly are much less likely to become infected. Why? Perhaps it's because they were the focus of the most initial intense vaccination campaign. I don't know you from Caesar's ghost and have no desire to piss you off or rub your face in "it." But the data strongly indicate you are wrong. And it's OK to be wrong. But look at the real data and think about what they imply. That is the very soul of critical thinking.

This isn't a case where everyone's opinion is as good as everyone else's. There are people who know what they are doing who are paid to do that who may, just may, NOT have an ulterior motive for what they are saying. At present, my money is on them. The data I see from the case statistics in the US and globally reinforces my decision to trust them.

If you can, would you please tell me exactly what you are seeing that suggests they are doing anything but the best they can?
