In 3rd and 4th, you will notice a bit of sound increase lol. It is about the same sound level as a loud exhaust in the cabin. The good news is that 3rd and 4th is shifted through rather quickly while driving and you only stay in those gears during school zones and neighborhoods.

Basically, I am saying, it is very daily friendly but it is quite noticeable. I will get some in-cabin vidoes in the next week.

I really didn't want to swap because of the cost, time, and weight balance/CoG differences and didn't want to compromise the great handling. There are so many power solutions for the engine in the forms of amazing FI kits and built blocks, CF driveshafts, high hp axles and diffs, with the glass TRANS being the one thing that seemed to ruin the whole upgraded package. Now I can start looking at larger turbo kits and higher hp and up my whp goals another 100-150whp, where I initially wanted it. Thanks Velox!! I'll be stalking this development like a wild jungle cat.
This isn't a "finally" thing, we started this 2 years ago. It has been through a lot o R&D just to get to this point. We're hopeful!

Keep in mind there are other options out there as well. PAR gearset is out currently, a CD009 trans solution is coming out soon as well?

We're trying, it has been a long road. The carbon synchros really makes this exciting to me.

That would qualify, anything north of 400 wtq will test the gearset.

He went through 4-5 different bearings, each lasting about 1000-2000 miles. He is incredibly hard on the car. However, he made quick work of sub-par bearings. I had to have torn that transmission apart no less than 5-6 times.

Thanks,
Eric

Not to mention I did put that gear set once through one test phase where I ONLY flat foot shifted with nt05 285(iirc) tires for 2,600 miles. And then we replaced the trans and tires. lol

The velox gears survived. But that early test bearing made a huge fuss. Newer one still runs. I lost count of the miles. I have a little more noise than normal since I did slightly chip a tooth on one gear.

Having an aggressive mount will transfer a decent bit of sound into the cabin. As before the gear set was installed I could hear the oem gears make sounds even.

But this was a video I posted right after we put in one of the early gear sets. It should give you an idea of what it sounds like. But decible level will be hard to grasp from that clip.

P.s. Hi guys. Long time no see...

I rarely go on fb and I saw bob post this at the top of my feed. I figured I would come say hi.

We have officially pulled the trigger on a second run of these. We have a few beta testers that we're excited to have try out the gearset next.

We had a member of the forum stop by last week amazed that we were working on this. I want to re-iterate, we've been working on this "under the radar" for 2.5 years now. This hasn't just sprung up out of nowhere. A lot of time and money has gone into it just to get to this point.

Thanks,
Eric

I wasn't speaking about Velox specifically, moreso the aftermarket in general. I've seen a few different solutions in the form of swapping out the trans with one from a different car, which is great, but not really something I'm interested in. I'm really glad someone is coming out with a solution to this platform's trans specifically. I wasn't aware at the time of my original statement that PAR was still making gearsets for our car as I didn't see it on their website. So it's between you two! I just received an email from PAR stating their 1-5th is $4700 and 1st-6th is $5300 for straight cut gears. The email stated their gearset is rated at about 600tq. Either way, I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product and pricing from Velox!

When my tranny is ready to go (doesnt look like it'll take much more, even tho im NA ) this is going in my car for sure. Velox makes such awesome products. Which reminds me, @VeloxEric, I wrote you quick message about some underbody aero questions for your panels, if you could take a look at that it would be great, Im planning my winter upgrades.

Thanks for the awesome work guys.

Sorry, Tapatalk doesn't always notify me when I get a message. Best to e-mail us, to be honest.

Test carbon synchros are in! Hoping to get these in the shop car with 2-3 weeks... fingers crossed.

These are sweet! I have nothing to compare to but everything looks and feels great! Very excited, just need to find the time to do the work.

Thanks,
Eric

Could this be considered tranny porn?

We currently have 2/3 of the deposits paid, the 3rd guy backed out. We are able to take on another beta tester if interested! Please send inquiries with build information like power/tq, how many trans you have been through, etc. to sales@verus-engineering.com

Checking up on the billet gearset (now with 5-6k on it) while I install the carbon synchronizer rings for testing.

Results from visual inspection are quite positive. The bearings look to be wearing well as do the gears. Honestly, everything looks great. Pre-loading was still where I set it 4-5k ago which is a great sign as well.

Thanks,
Eric

Very interested in this; and even better its coming from Velox / Verus. Love your commitment to this platform.

Any estimate on when this will be market ready? Or when more testers will be added?

The beta testing sets won't be ready till later this year, so no updates currently.

Sam Sullivan is one of the beta testers and he brought a really low mileage trans for his swap (very clean, oil very clear, no metal shavings, etc) and I started pulling that apart after hours in prep for the install. That's the biggest update I guess.

Thanks,
Eric

Blog review on the carbon synchros is out since we've been driving with them for a few weeks now. Definitely a positive impact on shifting performance.
