Of course it matters. HP is a byproduct of torque at RPM. As VTEC motors can keep their torque from falling off at high RPM due to the additional lift/potential flow provided, they will generally have more HP than another motor of the same displacement.

This is precisely the principal upon which a restrictor works. Whether you have a 2L engine, or a 4L engine, if you have a restriction at the intake... |

The TVS chargers are limited to a pressure ratio of 2.4 (that 1.4Bar boost) and they have a 20k rpms limit. On the FA20 with a pressure ration of 2.2 and e85 Harrop could not squeeze any more power (more boost = less efficiency due to moving into a very inefficient region of operation for the SC). On the K20 with a higher rpm ceiling for the same SC rpm at peak revs (and thus same airflow) it runs less boost due to lower restriction in the head. Therefore you can spin it faster whilst staying within spec and get more power. The TVS1320 hits max boost way before it hits max rpms on the FA20. Stock harrop runs about 8k rpms, not even half but you ant run it at 20k as the pressure ratio will be way out of spec. |

Likewise, a stock K20 would never be able to even do 1 pull at this power level. |

Well I have a built engine and could run 1.4bar of boost easily.

Does anyone know what the scaling is for the IAT sensor Harrop uses in the kit? I can't seem to find any information on it. I'll be dropping Harrop an email tonight but they might be slow to respond.
Thanks! -Matt |
