Welp, its 109 degrees F outside and 71 degrees in the house. Ma-ma is watching the girls in the pool from the cool comfort of the big window in the living room.

Pa-pa is going to take a nap and pray that the AC doesn't give out -

Finally left the job I was at. Wasn't exactly on my terms as they fired me right after I brought it up. The end result is the same though so -yeah.

Already have the next workplace lined up. Just finishing up the fine print. I'm fairly sure they won't have me start until after the holiday... which is nice. But, at the same time not having things set in stone is worrisome.

The facilities are a bit of a downgrade from where I was but, the people seem more wholesome and genuine. That is kind of what I wanted, as I'm tired of living just to work and being stressed out all the time.

I'm not sure what to do with my free time. I can't really be spending any cash atm and do a proper vacation but I need to recharge before starting at the new spot.

My mind isn't really in focus though for me to just chill, videogame and do hobbies as everything is still processing.

i know the feeling. i'm trying to burn through all those 'one day i'll get to it' projects that i have all the parts for, just need time.

or using parts i've hoarded over the years for new projects that come up instead of getting something new and shiny to do the same thing

Wait, so you said you were leaving and they fired you right then? That seems odd to me at least.

It's always traumatic changing gigs, even when escaping an abusive environment. All the best.

This isn't the same circumstance (I don't think) but it's not unusual in some job positions. For example, some companies have policies (formal or informal) that data security or other types of persons with high level access are released from duty at the point they give notice. They typically pay out the notice though.

Back in the late 90's I worked for a "large airline in Atlanta" in IT. One of my coworkers (a person who had top level access to most of the reservations systems) gave notice he was resigning in 3 weeks. It was decided to release him immediately, but pay out his notice.

Later that day, I went to my Boss (who happened to be a good friend) with the following notice (the date is approximate):

Quote:
June 1, 1998

Dr Bossman,

Please accept my notification that effective June 1, 2026 I will be terminating my employment. Per corporate policy, I will pack up my desk now and leave by the end of the day. You can continue to send my check to the prearranged automatic deposit location.

It has been a pleasure working here, and will be even more a pleasure working out my notice on the beach. Come visit me anytime, drinks are on me.
Apparently, my notice exceeded the corporate policy though, and he just told me to go back to work.

So I had been offered the job to train troops at the ANG in New Hampshire, but after several days of constant thought, I decided to turn it down. Not sure if I will regret it, but as some may know, I'm in the process of trying to reenlist in the Army. So I figured I should see that through first and if something in the process fails, I'll proceed with tactical fitness again. Hopefully I will not die of COVID or be informed that my feet are too flat for the military lol

Good, there's nothing to fckn do at New Hampshire. Take this chance to really think about doing anything with the Army, you're in control. They need the personnel, so you hold the high ground.

Edit: NH does have a big 86 community, most of the New England Owners meets happen over there, and quite a few show up.
