There are regulations requiring massive clearance for wheels/tires which account for oversized tires. If the new model has less clearance for rear tires, I'm betting we'll still be able to fit 245s without too much trouble. Guess we'll have to see about +35 offsets tho... |

Sorry for chiming in late here. Been stupid busy. So with 13" hub center to fender, I'm now getting very very minimal rubbing on large bumps on the road. At Crows Landing for an autocross, didn't rub once. That's big load on a bumpy surface. So if it doesn't rub there, it's not going to rub on a race track unless I'm pounding over a big curb.

Curious how many mm should the suspension be compressed for the tire to reach that spot. I remember you told me you have 8k springs in the rear. Perhaps with 9k or 10k springs and slightly higher ride height and different coilovers one could set bump travel in such a way that the suspension just can't move that much for the tire to reach that spot, even with et35 wheels. |

I honestly don't know where it rubs yet. I haven't had enough time to dig into it.

Sorry I'm not familiar with the typical offset for the previous gen 86. Was 17x9 +35 one of the go tos to make the wheel flush with the fender? If so then a 17x9 +45 might look sunk in...
Reading into other threads, 17x9+45 leads to issues with inner fender well rubbing in the front, while 17x9+35 was great. Now +35 leads to rubbing in the rear! So some kind of rubbing will be present unless ride height, spring rate, etc are played with. Can't understand how this happened. Overlooked by both Subaru and Toyota? There has to be reasoning, right? Last edited by Dylans47; 11-09-2021 at 01:46 PM. |

First, anything you're reading is from me. To my knowledge, nobody else is lowered and fitting meaty tires. Mike is working on this too but not sure he's tried as aggressive as I have.
Second, Subaru and Toyota definitely do not account for lowered cars with wide tires when making designs lol. Finally, I have some pretty damn wide tires on. All tires are not sized equally from brand to brand. 255 wide Yokohamas are very wide compared to 255 wide tires in some other brands. There's a ton at play here including ride height and camber. It's literally one car, everyone can calm down, we'll get it figured out! |

+35 was a common combo indeed, but in the rear it probably poked slightly with stock RLCAs. Quote:
Depends on the tire size, camber, possibly other factors. I've managed to scratch some paint off the chassis with +37 wheels and 245/40R17 tires in the front at -3.0º camber. Yes, possibly Quote:
Or et45 wheels everywhere and 10mm spacers in the front. (Good call, @trippinbillies40!) Quote:
Seriously though, they know about the aftermarket around these cars, they worked with many of tuners pre-release, why would they make things worse? Quote:
And judging by how the wheel is positioned, even 245 from "narrower brands" are likely to poke quite a bit at stock camber on +40ish offset wheels I really hope our initial data points were wrong and/or misinterpreted and there are in fact no issues. |

Ah, true — my car is lowered less than average.
Can you take a photo of the fitment from above the wheel, and slightly inboard? Before I dialed in -2.5º of camber, I could find a spot where the top of the wheel would fully cover the bottom of the wheel, but was still visible from under the fender. |
