Well, that was true, back in the day - THEN some smart ass developed the right side rear view mirror that read "objects may be closer that they appear". FINE, however, I can't read that from sitting in the drivers seat - so there!

Sorry for your loss. That is a good run though. I'll be lucky to get half that far.

So remind me again. The clutch creaking like a loose floorboard when releasing is or is not a sign of TOB failure? Does it when car is off too.

Speaking of old wounds. My "reversing limitations" are due in part to genetics.

Back when I was about 6 years old, my father was backing up our 11/2 ton truck, to a hog feeder to fill it. I was standing between the backing up truck and the hog feeder to let him know when he was close enough.

Well, HIS plan was to back up till he hit the hog feeder -

After much screaming he finally stopped, with me (about chest high) trapped between the back of the truck and the hog feeder.

I came away with only a few cracked ribs, that I didn't find out about for another 10 years, when I had my first chest X-ray.

My lesson learned: NEVER stand behind someone backing something up!

It could have been "THE END".
