Even with my heavy foot it still gets about 30mpg. The air filter is a K&N though, I don't think a better air filter violates the stock designation. Occasionally when people feel like talking shit they bring up the butterfly valve screw and pre-cat issues that affected some cars. Neither problem affected my car, probably because I don't redline it, like ever. Anyway to me the RSX-S was a cool car but I made the right choice getting the BRZ.

Coming straight from a 2002 RSX-S with full bolt on's, the power of the FR-S isn't impressive at all. In fact sometimes when I'm on the highway cruising with my FR-S and do a highway pull, I find myself nostalgically waiting for the surging power of a high lift cam to engage and pull me away but sadly it doesn't. BUT the reason I bought the FR-S and got rid of the RSX-S was the handling! Even on these so called "low grip" Prius tires, I turn harder and have more control through a corner then I ever could with the RSX-S on larger 225/45/17 Nitto Neo-Gens. FWD under steer is a bitch. Hopefully when I install full exhaust and tune I'll get that straight line acceleration im accustomed to. I miss the RSX-S but to be honest I think I just miss it's motor. Honda sure knows how to make a quality dynamic 2 liter.

I had a 02 type s in 2005, close to 3 years of it being out their still wasnt that much support of the k20a2 engine. People were saying how the b series was superior, that all changed within time. I had bolt ons and kpro with a 9k rev limit. I now have a brz with i/h/e in this car feels great. If anything this platform has got a lot of aftermarket support for its time being out. I wouldnt talk down on this motor as time goes by I can see a lot of progression.

imo coming from hondaworld, the k20a2 is a way way better engine then the 4ugse. its possible to make 260whp na on 93 and still be a safe daily. i put my ex in a 04 type s and now my boy picked up a 06. having messed with these cars, you will find the suspension is a nightmare. the front binds very easy and is hard to make it turn in good. rates can be somewere around 11k front and 16k rear with over sized rear bars and huge front tires just to corner good. my ex didnt care about turns, only being low. that car was scary how bad it understeered. like unreal

I never liked the RSX-S, it was too isolated, light and boring compared to the older hondas.
I share the same opinion having owned both a DC2 and a DC5 in the past. I will say that I get a similar kind of enjoyment driving my FR-S, if not more, as I did my GS-R. The RSX felt like more of just a luxury coupe with sporty features to me. Almost like driving a 3 series (not including the M3 of course).
