Replacement Key

My car key (+house keys) was *ahem* removed from me recently.

Luckily I was running, so car nowhere to be found for the thief to steal.

I have had the pleasure (insert a ton of sarcasm here) of getting 2 quotes for a replacement key. The first was R8,560 and the second R7,440.

So - can anyone help with a contact or advice or similar to get a new key without such crazy prices?

Unfortunately it's the high-spec fancy keyless entry which somehow gives them the right to bend you over sans lube should you be unlucky enough to lose a key! Keyless entry is over-rated anyway!

Thats cheap for what the key is.... Unfortunatley i think you going to have to just bite the bullet and buy it, cant you claim from insurance?

FWIW I love the keyless entry lol one of the best things of having a high spec...

You could try buy a new one from the states. Code it yourself and work from there?

You will need the original or a working one else.. Toyota.

I'm not surprised.
Whenever I've compared prices, Subaru has always been substantially cheaper.

So silly... So Subaru can't sell the cars, but seem to be making it up in parts to Toyota owners
Doesn't make much sense to me - but now I am aware I'll be called Subaru for quotes on everything I need for my car (+ there is one fairly close by so easy enough to fetch).

See http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=569

Out of curiousity, I priced stock brake pads about 6 months ago, and Subaru were 30% cheaper than Toyota.
