Haha, you're not the only one getting a late start on that too.

The secret to "making" good bread, is knowing what to select at your local bakery.

all by hand, or with a bread maker?

i highly recommend a bread maker. it takes care of the most tedious part. at least around me, all the local goodwill/thrift stores always have at least 5-10 bread makers at any given time. always can be had for dirt cheap, many only have a few uses before people realize it's easier to go the humfrz route.

i just coax my mom to make it for me. though i don't always get it when it's fresh, it is better than store bought.

Just a basic no-knead recipe: https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/...ad-recipe.html

So basically by hand but supposedly the way it works you don't need to knead it yourself really.

Just decided to try it. I don't _need_ to make my own but wanted a new little project to try when I'm bored at home.

I need something to occupy me when I'm at home and NOT working ._. Otherwise I'm stuck at home all day five days a week working with not enough non-work things to get me out of the mode.

But yeah we went back into "purple mode" or whatever last week.

How about signing up for an on-line higher degree/certification program?

Nah, I'm done with structured education (other than learning things on my own).

Hell, I still have a nightmare every 6 or so months where I've failed a final exam and have to quit my degree program. I hope that stops someday. Maybe I need therapy .

Never goes away. I expect to take that one to the grave. It's kind of fun to wake up from it and realize, "Ahhh... Been there done that."

while that used to be fruitful, in talking to a number of higher-up people in a variety of fields, the return on investment barely breaks even unless one is in a minimum-wage job while doing it.

the rise in the cost of the for-profit college system has significantly changed the numbers on all of it.
