--The whole car looks less big/boxy/bulbous, and I think that is the case partially because it is, but also because they moved the roof line lower and the headlights lower on the body. The headlight is clearly above the wheel arch on the 370Z and now it is inline with the top of the wheel arch, so much lower.

--The rear wheel arches/hips look higher like the 86, and the fronts look less round, so much more like the original Z.

--It is hard to see, but it seems like the rear is definitely going to be retro too. It appears to drop off like the original Z, which always reminded me of a Shelby Daytona Coupe. This is much better than the 370Z soft rear, which was too much like the Audi TT rear.

Is there a reason they are referring to it as the ProtoZ and not the 400z? Is it it just a concept of closer to the production car given it is 2 years out?

All I know is, I want one. Like now. Not that there is anything wrong with my 86. Not sure I’ll truly wait 2 years for it in the end, though.

I'm sure it is closer to production, but typically a prototype is mentioned if they don't know the name yet, or they aren't entirely sure when the car will be released or if it will ever be released.

Frankly, I would prefer to see this car called the 300Z if it has a 3.0TT engine because that would be inline with their cars of the past, but I also don't really care that much what they call it. Engine displacement just makes more sense.

If they call it the 400Z because it has 400hp then would a special Nismo model with 450hp be called the 450Z and a 300hp model a 300Z? If someone modifies their car then should they change their badges to 637Z if it made 637whp, but then it is actually more hp at the engine, so they could calculate that and change their badge to account for that.

Yes this is just a concept car;

If the 2005 GTR Proto is anything to go by, I would say it's pretty close to the final design. I even think the ProtoZ is even closer to the production car since it has an interior and all.

Even the 350Z concept was very similar to production spec. Nissan seems to have a (good) habit of making their production cars very close to their concepts/prototypes

Yes sir, I forgot about that one. And thanks for not quoting all 20 pics like others on this forum.

Anyways, I don't think we have to worry about Nissan pulling a "FT-1" on us.

I guess it depends on how outrageous the concept is.

Something like the Lexus LF-LC was really out there, but they managed to make the production version very close to it.

Something like the GT-R already looked close to production ready (if a bit oddball styled) So it didnt seem like it took much to get it production ready.

Even the now-dead Toyota SFR concept looked damn near production ready. If that car came to market im sure it would have looked pretty close to it.

The FT-1 looked purely concept. The final Supra looks to be about 50% of it.
