They're supposed to build 25 road going versions for homologation purposes but I'll believe it when I see it. Especially since Peugeot has some how found a way around building a road going version of its, yet to be released, LMH entry.

I think it's beautiful, but I was also a huge fan of the old LMP1 cars. The only thing that bothers me is that this new class is going to be much slower. at almost 10seconds slower at Le Mans it would put the in contention with LMP2 class. Not sure how BOP will shake out but right now I'm skeptical. Hopefully the lower costs will truly revive the class and we'll see some good entries.

Introduction of LMDh in 2022 will be the real test. With Audi and Porsche both choosing this route we'll see if other manufacturers will want to continue development of bespoke chassis vs off the shelf base cars from a prototype OEM.

Edit - assuming Toyota build a limited run of road going versions, which I really hope they do.

It's kinda funny, when I first heard about the GR Super Sport, I had thought it would be a more conventional supercar styled hypercar, but it really looks like they just took their LMP racecar and turned it into a slightly bigger, heavier, and less powerful road car. Respect for that!
Sure, but that meant a lot more when racecars were actually beautiful. Everything on a "prototype" level since the demise of Group C and then GT1 has been absolutely hideous.
