I then sold the BRZ because I didn't really have a need for both (had a 4Runner as well) and I had limited parking space...lived in Tacoma, WA in a neighborhood that had an HOA (never again!) He then passed away, and the car serves as a reminder of him. I have now bought a new 4Runner and finally had the ability to pay cash for a new car (but I didn't because they gave me $1000 back to finance for 6 months). But thie thing has 2k miles and I owe like $3k on it...will pay off in April when I am allowed. I recently bought a new house that has a HUGE shop that has a lift and everything. I can now store the old Miata and a new sports without being bent out of shape because it won't stay detailed. I did have a Cayman S during this time..its CEL came on a few times and I unloaded it because it scared me. I think I want more performance than a 1991 Miata, but still have rock solid reliability that won't bankrupt me if something happens (though I still love Porsches and want a 911 really really bad too). Anyway I made this thread a celebration about the Miata RF (always wanted a hard top Miata), the announcement of the new Z car (I had a Nismo 350Z that I enjoyed) and a new BRZ (I only had mine for about 9 months before I got my Miata). I just think its great to have more options. Seems like sports cars are making a comeback (I consider the Mustang and Camaro and Challenger more of pony or muscle cars). EDIT: and random videos on youtube make me want an 80s sports car like a C4 Corvette or 300ZX... |

Take my money. Exige 350 Cup.
Honestly cruel and unusual punishment that this car isn't available for the street in the US. Talk about the mystique of the Lotus too. You just don't see them all too often.

Yea, expensive track toy. The v6 Exige is a lot bigger than the 4 bangers. It's like 6 inches wider and 9 inches longer. They had 2 of them at Park Place when I bought mine.

I like the look of the Miata RF but the extra weight (without offering trackable rollover protection) makes it a non-starter to me.
The soft top ND2 would interest me as a street/weekend car. I haven’t driven one yet, but I imagine it’s everything I liked about the NB (lightweight, short wheelbase) but with 40 more hp. The new 86/BRZ should feel very similar to a 1st gen with e85. Basically the closest thing to a s2000 coupe there is, with rear seats and some refinement. Should be really good. Potential to make 260 hp on e85 if gains are similar to the 1st gen. Just not sold on the looks yet. The 86 version should be an improvement there. The new Z does not interest me at all unless there’s significant weight reduction. I owned a 350z and while a good car, it never really grew on me. I don’t really have hope for the new one since from what I understand it’ll be the same chassis with an updated turbo engine. Agree there are a lot of interesting cars in the segment. I’m really happy with my FRS build right now though, so don’t see myself replacing it anytime soon.

Ended up buying a new Supra...it just felt right when I sat in it.
It wraps around you really well and feels special. I am sure other people have talked about how fast they are and well planted etc... To be truthful...I am still breaking it in and I haven't pushed it really. It definitely has a lot of power...I can easily pass on I-84 where the speed limit is 80 mph. It also rides nice and smooth when in normal mode. And in sport mode it stiffens up, but isn't unbearable. Will post pics! Last edited by Atropine; 02-02-2021 at 09:17 AM. |
