Friday, June 1

On my way to the KXT Summer Cut, I got a call from the car dealer -- the car was at the dealership a whole five days early. He texted me this photo:

I almost bailed on going to the concert but I had never seen the Flaming Lips before and they were one of my bucket list bands. They were amazing, the entire time they played I couldn't stop thinking about how glad I was that I didn't bail on the show. There will never be a case where upon finding out they're playing nearby that I'll say "meh, seen 'em before".

Saturday, June 2

Took delivery of the car. This day was spent driving around town and showing it off to a lot of friends. Took it around many blocks. Put 180 miles on it on the first day. While out in front of my aunt's place a guy stopped and asked if it was the Toyota / Subaru collab project he'd been hearing about, he was surprised to see that they were out already.

Car rules. Took some photos.

Another guy came up to me outside of Jersey Mike's, said his friend told him there was a "two door Subaru" and that he didn't believe it. I gave him the gist of things -- Toyota / Subaru, 200hp boxer, RWD, etc.

Went to the Anjelika Dallas to see Moonrise Kingdom, while on 635 some awful thing bounced up from under a car's undercarriage and nailed my front end. It looked like a massive wad of crushed together beer cans or something. Fortunately there's no visible paint damage.

Clutch is taking some getting used to.

Sunday, June 3

Fairly uneventful day, drove some more people around. Everyone seems very thrilled with the car.

Enabled the shift light, set it at 4500 rpm. Turned on gear indicator. Set my XM presets:

03 -- 20 on 20
34 -- Lithium
35 -- XMU
36 -- Alt Nation
51 -- BPM
52 -- Electric Area

Also tried out the iPod integration. The head unit isn't *that* bad, I don't know why people hate it so much.

Monday, June 4

Heard that Evolution Dynamics needed a BRZ / FR-S for part developement, brought it by their shop on the way home from work. We have made some arrangements.

Getting more used to the clutch.

Now to begin work on the website in my avatar...

New air cleaner element, new exhaust (should drop ~60 pounds), maybe some other things. As soon as the parts get fabricated and I finish my 1000 mile break-in (currently at 260 miles) we're going to dyno the car before and after modifications.

Tuesday, June 5

I spent some time over at Evolution Dynamics yesterday evening. We worked out a deal where I'd get some free parts if I let them take apart my car and make some measurements so they could develop products.

They're working on a new air intake at the moment which should incorporate a 9" cone air filter, they also took measurements to make a lightweight battery bracket. They also took wheel dimensions and did some test fittings. Once they're done with the intake and I'm done with my 1000 mile breakin we're going to put the car on the dyno before and after the air filter. In the future they're going to tune it as well as develop a new exhaust system that should open it up quite a bit and drop ~60 pounds.

(Only a test fitting) These wheels will fit flush with the proper offset, there's enough room.

There's a lot of Evos at Evolution Dynamics. Who knew? :V

Living in the danger zone in the last pic assuming the car is being held up solely by the jack.

Congrats on the car! With Dallas getting shipments, hopefully my car will arrive a little early in Arkansas. I have an eta of 6/17 pushed back from 6/12.

Not me under the car / my doing, but yeah I'm pretty sure they were only using the jack.

My car originally had an ETA of June 5th, got pushed back to June 15th, came in on May 31st. So there's that.

Wednesday, June 6

Awful weather today, I thought my car was going to get hailed on for sure. In other news the car does pretty well in the rain.

The rain chilled out for a little while so I went to a car meet down in Arlington where I met up with @carbonBLUE and @Juanito08.

I really need to start bringing a better camera with me. That or I just need to get a better phone.

Thanks @Kevin@COBB for putting together such an awesome event.

Here are the results: (kept you waiting )

Thanks for the numbers! Do you happen to know the approximate mileage on each car?

1700 on FR-S, 500 on BRZ. I know it's probably not the best thing for break-in, but I've been loading the engine pretty well and warmed the car up for a good long time prior to the dyno pulls.
