I can vouch for the NVMe! It makes a world of a difference compared to my previous computer. I got the Samsung 970 Evo, but if you have the $$ they released the 980 Pro which is supposed to be even better. O_o

The full description for my SSD is ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB 3D NAND NVMe Gen3x4 PCIe M.2 2280 Solid State Drive R/W 3500/3000MB/s SSD (ASX8200PNP-1TT-C).

From the reviews and what no, this SSD is about the same price and has exactly the same specs of a Samsung EVO. I can always go with something else like Samsung.

TBH, the only one I knew of was the Samsung solely because my brother suggested it. lol but I've seen others by Crucial and such too.

I've have never heard of any of the parts I'm using on my computer for that matter hahaha. It's all been trial and error with lots of research.

So... I am a dumbass. I had my fans and curves all pretty and quiet. But I was tinking with some settings and realized the CPU fan I thought was for my AIO was for the exhaust fan, the case fan was for AIO, and the "AIO pump" was for the intake fan. So my system was running warming than it should have been because I had the intake fan blasting during gaming and the AIO fan only at about 40-50%! Switched the plugs and then reset the curves. Now it's about 10c cooler overall!

I decided to camp out at Microcenter Tustin this morning - I was the last person to get a RTX 3080!

I now have two RTX 3070's coming in the mail. I'll be selling them off at/near retail to couple buddies lol

Nah, I was trying to get a RTX 3080, wasn't having any luck. Had the chance to get a 3070 and I figured I might as well enjoy a 3070 if not a 3080. I know I've got friends needing them too, so I grabbed a second since it was still up.

I got curious how Microcenter has been fairing on their RTX 3080's, and on discord people said its been several days since they had any RTX 3000's. So people were banking on this morning's shipment to have a bunch (3 trucks came in with lots of things).

So now I'm giving off my 3070s at retail to buddies - once they come in. lol If they add a little extra, that's their choice.

I'm extremely jealous.

It's my first desktop Nvidia card (besides a 950M, which I wasn't impressed by) - my prior was an ASRock RX 5700 XT, HIS HD 5850, and I don't remember what I had before.

I got to say .. I'm disappointed in Nvidia's software clutter.
To overclock - MSI Afterburner (why is this function not provided by Nvidia directly)
Mod Fan curve - hidden away in MSI Afterburner settings
To update - GeForce Experience
Display settings - Nvidia Control Panel. which looks like a windows 95 era software
Monitor System temps and other stats - RivaTuner

Radeon Software - does all of the above in one clean program.

But the FPS don't lie, RTX 3080 is great performance. Software UI needs some updating and consolidating.

I'll be looking into how to live stream, I know Radoen Software also gave you that functionality .. I think it was in GeForce Experience? I'll look into it after my exams ~

Edit: Radeon also included thermal sensors on the GPU die, VRAM, and VRM. Nvidia doesn't allow any readouts, just this "GPU temp" which is drastically lower than the important stuff.

I second the recommendation for NVMe for a boot/program drive since pretty much all boards have support for it now and prices have come down a LOT. It's a LOT faster in benchmarks. 3500 MB/s read on a decent PCIe Gen.3 SSD vs 525 on the fastest SATA SSD I had previously.
I should stress that I didn't find it to be a night and day difference in bootup times going from SATA to NVMe. It's definitely fast as hell, but it wasn't the same quantum jump I saw going from a hard drive to a SATA SSD.
