I see that all cars are from either U.S. or Canada. I wonder if it has something to do with the fuel that we have here.

Australian cars have a different VIN sequence. Mine is 0021**

1300 km (800 miles) and no sign of trouble.

There was one thread where a guy had a completely new ECU unit which ended in 811 I believe instead if 810. That seemed to fix the issue at least in his case.

I would still buy without hesitation. Just know what to expect going in. No other car does what this car does. Maybe upcoming MX-5 but I need back seats, no matter how small.

Like every other cars some has flaws and that why they have recalls. give subaru/toyota a break its the brz/frs's first year a new engine platform and dont expect it to be perfect.

instead of looking into the negative issues on ome of the cars why not try to see all the positive feedbacks and reviews.

Update: Dealer service manager called me to say he is having a Scion rep come to the shop and the parts are 3-4 weeks away. They are treating me well so far. I asked the salesman for a replacement car.

Eurospeed, would it be beneficial to put the name of the service rep's we are currently talking to on here with our info? I don't mean to make the list too verbose, but I've noticed when I reference anything I've read on here, the reps pretend the forum doesn't exist.

I'm sure a few of us must have been talking to the same guys who continually deny that they've ever heard of the issue. I've been working with Darren and now Clayton at Toyota HQ for my region, which I think is in Cali.

If you think it would be helpful, by all means, however the reps I have been dealing with have been less than stellar.

just a for fun update, i still have not heard a WORD from the dealership since last week on an eta or update of any sort. i sent scion a 1.5 page email late last night.. they called me back this morning, and are forwarding the paperwork to start the arbitration process to purchase my car back. takes up to 15 days to get paperwork they say... curious as to what the wording and stipulations are going to be in them...
