Making Custom cutout Axle Back

Hi everyone,

I am about to make a custom Axle Back that will clamp on to the factory Non-TRD mid pipe, which gets cut off near the rear subframe.

The idea is to basically copy the Hooker Axle Back, and add in an exhaust cutout in place of the Y-Pipe at the mid-pipe connection point to make it exit through one side (loud mode) or both tips (quiet mode).

The resonators are 2.5", and straight through perforated with glass packing, so there will be little/no drone, and have a nice deep tone.

If it's as nice as i think it will be, I will make a few more for sale, probably around the $600-$750 mark, shipped in the USA.

The pic with the red car is just the Tips I'm using, but if you added the cutout and resonators to that pic, it's pretty similar to what I'm building.

See the components I'm using:

This could be a popular product.
I once dreamt of a similar dual purpose system with a cut-off at one side of the y.
My thought was to have one side flowing through an effective muffler for street use and the other side wide-open for track.
Good luck!

Because the inlet and one of the outlets on the stock muffler are close together the place to put a muffler bypass is between those two pipes. loudness and free flow can be adjusted. There is a similar kit for the Focus RS.

this is on my (very long) to-do list with an electronic cutout, an arduino, and some OBD programming to adjust it via engine load..

One of my main grips with most exhausts for the BRZ is that they split from single to dual is usually not free flowing (T shaped).

I also want to make sure I have a high quality resonator on both sides. I hated the sound of a muffler delete, and I also don't like the tone of my center-gutted stock muffler.

The other goal is to remove the 90 degree followed by 180 degree turn the stock muffler takes.

Over all, it should be a pretty sweet set up. Hoping to have it this weekend.

I'll post sound clips, and if anyone wants to buy it, I'll make them another one after making a welding jig.
