New guy looking.. very soon
Hey guys. I've lurked for quite some time and finally decided to join. I've liked the twins since they released but I really wanted the '15 WRX, until I test drove it a few weeks back. Not to say that it's not a fantastic car, because it definitely is, but it wasn't quite what I thought it was going to be. I had a chance to test drive an FRS and I was very impressed with the way that it handles, despite being under powered. With that said, I tossed the idea of the WRX or one of the twins for a while but I feel that I'd enjoy one of the twins more for my uses. I have no kids or pets, I don't have a bike, I don't go hiking, etc etc. so the little to no use back seats are of no concern to me. If anything, I mainly drive my mom around if she needs to go somewhere.
With that said, I've talked to a scion dealership and I'm going to be looking at a '16 (or '15) FRS this Saturday, and yes, the anticipation is killing me!! Hopefully, if all goes well, then I'll be here full-time *Btw* Skandiluz, for those who haven't picked up on it, is actually "Scandalous" because I've always played some type of Ninja or assassin class in games so I thought it was pretty fitting. Most people that I game with just call me Skandi or Skandz. Nice to meet everyone --Current car: '06 Civic Si Mods: Massive Clear coat failure (Woo woo -_-") Retrofit mini h1 projectors Smoke tint overlay on tail lights Eibach pro kit lowering springs Skunk 2 alpha header Skunk 2 76mm catback exhaust (Retired) Full race 3'' catback exhaust Hondata reflash --vit viper tuned--(Retired and sold) TWM performance short shifter TWM M1 abrams graphite weighted shift knob Red bride shift boot '09-11 front end conversion with JDM front/rear 'H' badge ***EDIT*** 8/9/15 I went down to the dealership yesterday and after about 3 and 1/2 hours I walked off the lot with a... *wait for it* YEP!! Brand new 2015 Hot Lava 6MT! This sale was all sorts of weird but I can't complain, in the end I think I made our with a fairly decent deal, all things considered. The original 2016 oceanic blue I was looking to get transferred here from Texas fell through because they had someone interested in it already. No biggie. I understand that. I went to look for the 2016 model in Raven that I saw on their website and all was well until I saw the teenager (no offense to any teenagers here) test driving it like a damn maniac. *Scratches that off my list*. Going through the motions, my original sales rep didn't make it due to family issues so I ended up with a new guy trying to sell me the highest FRS on the lot. Asphalt, all the options, Automatic, yada yada. I explain to him I'm looking for a standard and he shows me the only other standard on the lot. The Hot Lava. *disclaimer* by no means was I interested in another red/orange color car but seeing this up close for the first time... it's such a beautiful color! The car had like 120 miles on it already but I had reduced on the cost of the car (which mind you they only took off a mere $50, better than nothing so I wasn't complaining). I got the Led lights, spoiler, and bespoke upgrade for $28.3k OTD. Trade + tax weekend + grad discount. Looks like I'm here full time guys! =D I still have quite a bit to learn about the car but this forum has a ridiculous amount of information. For now, I don't really plan on doing mods (unless you count a window tint), because I just want to really enjoy this car the way it is. I'm scheduled to change my trans/diff fluid next week, I'll change my tires out some time after my break in, and at some point down the line I'll pick up OFT. I have actually. I'm on the fence about it. While I love how fast it is, I feel that it's still very heavy. If I were to get a 370z it would have to be the Nismo edition. Speed is not my main concern since there's always FI options and I'm no stranger to it.
Thanks! I'm actually aiming for Oceanin/Lapis Blue. I've talked with the dealer about it over the phone and if the numbers work out they're going to have it shipped from another dealer. If that color doesn't work out then they have a Raven on the lot so I may try to work a deal out on that one. LMAO!!! This is gold. Hahaha. I like your personality already. |

Thanks, humfrz! I'll be getting the manual and I'm hoping on the Oceanic blue, but if not I may end up with Raven Black. Either of which are fine for me. I will definitely ask at some point in time but for now I've done tons of research before I even joined ^-^ |

I vote for the blue! You won't regret the color, good choice even if you have to wait on it and pay a bit more. Get your first choice, don't settle.

Ya, you can have one hell of a sweet FRS done up for the price of a new Nismo.

As it should be for $15K more.
Why not go 'Vette then?

I looked at a '16 6MT in Oceanic. It's a very nice color and I almost went with it for the upgrades. Good luck with your search.

If all goes well, I'll be picking up a 2013 whiteout soon too. I'm coming from a RSX Type S so I'm kinda in the same boat as you. Congrats and post some pics!

So does a lot more cars.. that cost 2 or 3 times as much as an FRS/BRZ. ^ Truth Quote:
FRS = $27k (round about figure) Turbo + supporting mods + whatever = $15k Total: $42,000 FRS = 450+whp Stock 370z nismo = $40,000 350hp at the crank. That's just my two cents. Quote:
Congrats! I'm hoping you get it! I'll post pics when I get it. That's a promise |
