I plan on keeping it as long as the body/chassis stays free of rust. Which, in the part of the country I live, is around 10 years...

somewhere between 5-7 years and forever.

i'm 29 right now and its my DD that gets some track/autox use. right now i'm single with no kids, but i can see a reality 5+ years down the line where i have kids who are getting too old for car seats and i might need something a little more practical to DD. Hopefully I am in a place financially where I can buy a new DD and keep the brz as a weekend and track only car which would be fun.

The other alternative for me is that my dream cars have always been a 911 of some kind and a rotary engined mazda. If (big if) Mazda comes out with an RX-9 in 2020 I can see myself moving on from the BRZ.

For me, a Honda S20xx would kill any other car I have desired thus far. I would pay off the 86, which is pretty close already, and then start looking at one of those.. I don't think I would trade the 86 ever though, I would like to be able to hand her down one day.

Why not get both, and keep both forever!!! Driving the S2K with the top down is such a good feeling.

I'm keeping mine until the next gen STI comes out,but only if it's a visual and performance improvement from the current gen. If it looks anything close to this,I'm all in and it's bye bye FR-S.

A dream more like. Old S2k are nice as hell, but I don't want to jump into an old car right now, that could change in the future, but not now. I want me a brand new S20XX, and by the time I am looking at getting into something else, I will have had gotten the family car, the dog SUV, the <insert utility vehicle>.

I am with you.
My wife has the 2017 Impreza which is the new global platform the WRX/STi will be built on. Even in the Impreza (top sport trim) version the platform is impressive and I am extremely optimistic as to what the WRX/STi will be like.
