Keep in mind only the base model is under 60K. To get the great 0-60 (and limited slip, wtf?!?!) you're adding the Z51 package. To get the super nice interior its the uprated package. Prices will add up quick and there will be a ton of variety in options.
Once they come out with a GS or Z06 or Zr1 etc etc they'll be supercar territory in pricing, which they should be. Same pricing structure system as they've always been. Although these seem to have a wide variety of options at launch when you go to "build" one on the website. The Supra may still have a niche, but.... yikes. |

Corvette sells enough volume that it could justify it. Last I heard the uptake on manuals was about 25% of corvettes sold. The problem is the new car is just designed with no physical way to get a manual in that package. I'm not too upset, the performance bracket the new corvette is aiming for is basically all DCT's. From a performance standpoint it makes sense. The car is incredibly quick now even in base form. The Supra on the other hand really isn't in that performance bracket, and could really benefit from the engagement of a manual. I've driven a B58 with a 6speed in the RWD 340i, and they're an absolute blast! |

Note: even the base has a limited slip differential... Z51 adds an electronic limited slip.

Yea, the first year base model may be the unicorn 10 years from now. It will be interesting to see how much my "base" model would cost me (I'd have to add the Z51, plus I can't help but add trim levels). So far, in the configurator, this is my C8....

On that note...
Anyone care to indulge us non-Corvette people? What's the run down on model structure? Stingray - base Z51 - light performance GS - "Touring" Z06 - Medium performance ZR1 - All out performance Something like that? Even optioned up I can't see them really pushing "supercar" prices. A 911 Turbo starts at $162k, a GT2 RS is $293k +. Maybe a loaded Z06 will be competing price wise with a 911 GTS at $121k? The cheapest McLaren starts at $195k. AMG GT "starts" at $112, I've never seen one under $150k. That's not even getting in to the Italians. The c8 would have to be literally dipped in gold to hit their prices. |

Where did you see that information? It would make perfect sense, but I've seen multiple sources say you have to get the Z51. Info is still trickling out every day! EDIT: found it on the order sheet. 00J: mechanical limited slip differential. Nice! Last edited by Summerwolf; 07-25-2019 at 11:14 AM. |

A 2019 Zr1 is starting around 120K currently. I could easily see 150K for certain trim C8. Stingray - base Z51 - light performance GS - Z06 light Z06 - Track Car ZR1 - Track Car + I guess that's how it would stack out....but they're all able to be driven on the streets without hassle. Depends on if they supercharge or add displacement in the future, what direction they really want to go with the car. They change and overlap purpose quite a bit through the years. |

We had a c6 ZR1 traded in years ago, that thing was a blast. Definitely pushing the limit of "street driveable while keeping one's drivers license". |

For reference, BMW does around 150,000 units for the 3/4 series in a single year and they are dropping the stick because it's not profitable. Oh and BMW is using an off-the-shelf Getrag or ZF manual that is bolted to tonnes of other cars, not some one-off unique design. There is not enough volume for a one-off manual to be profitable in the C8 program. |
