Weird paint marks

I cant tell if these white marks are from rock chips (they dont look like normal rock chip) or if they are from acid rain.

If you zoom into the picture, they have almost a rain droplet pattern on the paint.

These are ALL over my hood, but not on the rest of the car at all.

I've tried buffing by hand and by machine, does very little. I've tried clay bar, does nothing. They seem to become more visible after I wash the car.

Any suggestions? I really dont want to have to pay to just get the hood painted, because it never comes out looking the same as the rest of the car.

It's tough to say from the picture, but given that they are on the hood I'm guessing it is debris-related chips in the paint. Are they mostly consistent across the hood or more concentrated in one area? If concentrated, how so?
They may be small chips that have been filled in with dried polish or wax.

Can you feel them with your fingernail or are they completely smooth? If they're completely smooth, and not chips, then try a bit of rubbing compound or scratch remover on ONE of them to see if it'll polish out.

They are pretty central to the center 1/3 of the hood

Took a closer picture of a few of the marks.

You cannot feel them with your fingernail.

Any ideas?

I do have a paint pen from Subaru, should i try and see it its just a clear coat chip and fill a small one in with just the clear coat?

Would acetone hurt the clear coat and maybe remove the wax?

Chip marks. My hood is covered in them as well. The one sort of bottom center of your pic even shows the stress marks. I think it is the low angled hood on these cars that makes them more common than on higher flatter hoods. The fact that they are aluminum while the rest of the car is steel may also play into why they chip easier as well.

Slowly put the acetone back on the shelf and cap it off tightly.......

Yes, the acetone would take off the wax and clearcoat and the paint and the undercoat and a few molecules of the aluminum hood.........

Wash the area thoroughly NO NOT with acetone.

Then try a clay bar. Most Flaps carry the meguiars kit with everything you need.
