i wasn't trying to argue either. i thought we were just having a good discussion. same here, not planning on buying the current 86 or a possible future replacement. just like talking about cars.

Just a thought, but maybe Toyota hasn't provided any updates because they want to unload the remaining 2020 86? Just imagine what would had happen if after unveiling the Zupra if they announced the 21 models would get a revised B58 with 382hp and the 8inch screen would now be standard across all trims.

We are not talking about the Corolla, Camry or Rav4 here, bread and butter models that Toyota relies on. The 86 is a niche seller, and cutting it would barely impact their bottom line... might even improve it. They now have the Supra in 2.0 and 3.0, as well as GR versions of the Yaris and Corolla coming out... they may decide they no longer need the 86 to provide the ‘sporty’ image the way they needed it back in 2012. I hope they do release it on schedule, I’m just keeping it real. |

Business majors will know what I'm touching on. Companies need to look past Covid, predicting and forecasting. Is a company going to axed a product that the spent years and xxx amount of money on over a virus that maybe not even be an issue in a years time? That's the risky decision companies have to make. Back to the 86, we should know for sure in early spring 2021. That's the rumored unveiling time period.
The GR Yaris isn't sold in every market. On a side note I read on one of those Japanese site that the GR Yaris and Corolla was another one of the many reason why Toyota did not move forward with the SFR. |

The next gen 86 render they did has too much things that were obviously taken from other cars that i cant really see those being that accurate. Maybe the exterior design (which imo is a bit boring in comparison to the existing car, and also doesnt really follow the design direction of Toyota all that well) could be somewhat accurate if the rumors of it being more or less a reskin is true, since it looks like all that was significantly changed was front and rear fascias...then they just grafted a Lexus F fender vent on the side. Interior wise...just too many things copy pasted from existing cars. Its like they had nothing to work with so they grabbed a generic dash templated, pasted the corolla infoscreen on, pasted the current 86 center stack and tunnel on, and grabbed a Supra cupholder/armrest section and just jigged it aroud to make it work. |

https://lexusenthusiast.com/2016/07/...esert-testing/ https://lexusenthusiast.com/2016/12/...er-appearance/ with the Supra they made that render before Toyota dropped the body cladding on the test cars. yes they did have the FT1 to work with, and so did all the other publications but none of they came anywhere close. trust me, i also have my doubts. we'll see around this time next year. |
