Awesome! Looks like you had loads of fun!

Did your nannies not switch on again after you stalled? I see you immediately started and got the back out again.

I use the 86nanny from beastronix, it does pedal dance and ABS defeat automatically via CAN through the OBD port

I love the price and the life that you get out of them. I would say they are just as good as the Kendas if not better. I say give them a shot.

Thank you guys for the recommendations, Glad I checked this thread. Just went to my 2nd drift event, and burned through the extra set of stock wheels & tires I got from another members take-offs. I'm in need of some replacement tires and haven't been able to find the Kenda's.

Which Federal 595 tires are you guys talking about, as when I look for them they show a 595, a SS-595, and 595RPM? Also, where are some good places to source drift tires from? Discount Tire & TireRack don't carry these brands. Thanks

The Federal 595 used to be called the SS-595. Federal advertises the SS-595 as their drift tire, and it's the one you want.

Some people run 595RSRs in the front and 595s in the rear to get more front-end grip, but 595s all around are a good choice for this car on stock or near-stock power.

Like @slava mentioned a few posts up, you can find them on simpletire.com

Your welcome man! I know it's hard to get some info on tires and it really is a personal preference but I think you will be happy with the 595's on your 86!

I have been running them all the way around but now that I am more comfortable with my car and the local track I get some understeer. I think it might just be the front tires are getting worn down more or I need to mess with tire pressures? None the less great tires for the price!

What tires do you guys like to run up front? I currently run Dunlop Direzza Star Spec. 215/40/17. I blew one out on the highway a few weeks ago. Thinking about trying something else. I did like the Direzza's though. Lots of feed back, and i could throw the car hard as shit without it under-steering.

Looking at Falken 615K, Federal RSR, Hankook r-s3..

Hello long time lurker here, so i'm planning on going to my first drift event; DDay56 at USAIR. BRZ is stock except for a track pipe and drop in filter.. Originally never thought I'd take this to a track but it's too fun to drive and Final Bout was insane.

Few questions:
- How many sets of tires should I expect to go through? Looking at some spares and sets of OEM wheels I might pick up. And knowing the lack of power..
- What are some decently priced helmet options?
- Things to expect at my first time at the track? Very new to the Chicago drift scene and there's gonna tons of experienced drivers lol
- Recently changed oil with OEM fluids, should I upgrade to something better?

Welcome to the drift scene, I'm sure you're going to like it. I'm fairly new too, just went to my 2nd event. As for your questions:
- I found another set of OEM wheels/tires for cheap on here. I highly recommend getting at least one spare set of wheels as the first event I went to I just used what was on the car and had to call the day short so I could still make it home. Since you are just starting out, and depending on the track surface, you should be able to last a day on a set of OEM tires.
- Check MotorcycleGear.com. They have great prices on closeout items, here's a couple good helmets for under $100 bucks.
- Eh, if you just changed fluids I think you'd be fine, might just want to change them again after the event if you want to be proactive.

Remember, this is all from my limited experience with drifting, but I've autocrossed and done some HPD events, so similar wear and tear to the car. Drifting seems to be easier, don't go thru as many brakes, just a crap load of tires!

-Ask @slava as he knows the track surface. I imagine one extra pair of tires would be good for the day.

- @Touge Factory is in Chicago and they carry HJC helmets and other options which won't break the bank. Some of which are SNELL approved too, so you'll never have to worry about not being able to drive at events that require SNELL approved helmets.

-Should be fine so long as you don't hit anything, but there isn't much to hit. Some of the areas might be a bit rough on the car if you go off track. Weak point on these cars are the axles. Provided the car isn't super low or you're running a lot of rear end grip, you should be fine. Just bring some basic tools and stuff at the very least. I always brought an extra axle with me just in case.

-I personally ran Motul for everything, but the first event I did was 2 weeks after I got the car, on OEM fluids, and the car did just fine.
