Exclamation Forged 2017 86 - Won't Idle When Direct Injectors Start Working!

Hello All

Recently finished my fully Forged build with a HKS Turbo

Having massive issues getting the thing to idle, I have got a base map from Adrian at Fensport over in the UK, he seems to be the go to with all types of FA20 Builds,

I work at Toyota and had a few people help me along the way, we sent the engine away to get built as when it comes to making sure all the correct measurements are made we were not very confident, fast foward 2 weeks we get the engine back in with the turbo kit and get my base map from fensport and the car doesn't want to stay idle.

We hooked up the computer to it to see what we could find, from cold the car starts up perfectly up until the crossover between port injection and direct injection, the second it says its using direct injection the car cuts out, the car used to run perfrct before so I really doubt that it would be a direct Injector.

Anyone had any issues like this or know what the problem could be? I know the direct injection seals had some issues before from reading on forums with the seals going bad but no one having issues with just starting up the car

Thanks for reading this

Thanms

Did you remember - which one is it? - the bottom screw for the DI driver box? That's earth ground for it.

I'm by no means a tuning expert, but:
-it idles pretty high (maybe because it's cold?)
-AFR is kind of lean
-looks like it stops injecting fuel the moment it crosses into DI. Are the injectors getting power? How about pressure in the DI rail? That should be a standard PID.

Yeah car is running lean, pressure at the rail seems to be at around 16 Mpa

I'd say the injectors are getting power because as long as you rev the car it won't die

well it was a cold start, and Adrian tends to keep rpm idle high anyway
So the afr is not actually lean, it follow the target with good trims, the fact is cold start is on port injectors only so it works until it switches to DI and then fuel doesn t arrive even if the di inj opening is there and then afr becomes too lean and it dies.. unfoortunately i m not understanding why, can you log while revving and keeping it alive to see how DI behaves?

Try to flash back the stock oem tune (no worries as long as you dont bring it to boost)

If you have a different map sensor and or different injectors i can send you a stock tune with those modified that will start

I think my issue is also the di Injectors but we cannot figure out what is causing this issue as no one has seemed to have this issue, unfortunately we have tried to run the stock tune and map sensor and it does the same thing, we get no engine codes at all either about it

Time to start tracing signals with a multimeter and/or o-scope.
