What are the ambient IR conditions in the room?
Window shades open and lots of light bouncing around?
My cable box used to go unresponsive at certain times of the year when a ray of sunlight crept in under the eves.
The direct sunlight IR overwhelmed the wimpy battery handheld controller modulated IR signal.

Tinfoil shield and tape may help a bit to keep direct light out.
Dust off the sensor once a month too. Keeps out the back scatter.

not a bad idea at all. but i just want to figure out if there's a way to reset it so the temps match :\. Right now I have it "set" 10 deg higher than I want the temp to be just for the heat to go on (according to my cheap room thermometer the ambient temp delta is like 14 or 15 degrees).

So what's the hot shit for twin tuning these days? Don't you dare say OFT.

Context: Getting back into a twin soon but it's on stock tune. I used to have a e85 FF setup & ecutek tune and that shit was amazing.

Still ecutek. Depending on the year of car you are getting into, you can't FF tune a facelift car with OFT anyway.

Either will work then. Ecutek has more capability, OFT is open source. OFT the FF kit has to be evap reference. Ecutek can use evap or rear 02, rear 02 being much easier to install and remove.

I believe this is what I had: https://www.delicioustuning.com/flexfuel

But it looks a little different than the one I had, like they changed the mounting location of the sensor. I was planning on getting the Grimmspeed front strut tower bar so I'm not sure this will work nicely with that.
