Burning oil

So I have a built engine (Outfront closed deck, stock CR) and turbo and noticed that I am burning a lot of oil. after driving to track and doing 5 20min sessions I burned almost all my oil except one quart.

One guy there said no big deal, built engines do that and other person said I should not of burned that much.

I also had some misfire and I stopped driving car and another person there said maybe me burning oil caused my misfire. I took car to shop that help build it and going to look at it, but has anyone had this issue? Anything I should worry about? Car is more track car then daily. I drove it 5 weeks recently everyday and assume burned very little oil, but nothing major.

Are you running AOS's. Also, with that kind of oil consumption you sholud see a lot of blue smoke.

I only see very little white smoke at first start up. I use 300V 5W30 for track days. I have radium oil catch cans.

First off, I reckon you're lucky that your car is still running, if you burnt off 5 out of 6 quarts -

Even back in the day, a car couldn't burn that much oil.

I figure something else is wrong with your car. I suggest you take it back to whoever built the engine and have them install the oil rings this time.

OR figure out HOW that much oil is getting from the crankcase to the combustion chambers -

If you burned through 5 quarts of oil in 5 20 minute sessions you should have been waved off the track for the massive cloud of blue smoke you were leaving behind.

What did you find in the catch cans?

What did you find in the catch cans?
Or the trail you were leaving.

Yeah, I have no smoke, I just have a light white smoke when turn on car if it goes completely cold.

I have it at shop and getting maintenance done. This only happens when at track. Since dont drive it much I never noticed before when I do take out on a weekend or something.

No smoke, no leak. 1 qt every 20 minutes. This just doesn't add up.

So engine out and found some very tiny and light scratches on piston wall, the spark plug was completely black and i also asked my tuner and they think spark plug, bad injector was a cause and possibly that cylinder running lean and what caused it. Changed all spark plugs, coil packs and seems a little better

Debating on either swapping or putting an IAG engine in.

Car turns on, very tiny smoke coming out on full throttle, can barely even notice anything. But debating on either swapping or putting an IAG engine in now

Of course it does add up. Just look outside any tavern in Idaho -

PS - @Sapphireho - how are you feeling?

but that much oil to leak past the rings and get used up in the 4-cycle rotation?!?!?

and you're burning 1qt in 20 minutes that way?

i've seen cars with a weepy head gasket that go through 1qt/4k miles-- those look like an entire marine platoon is attempting an emergency evac with every smoke bomb they've got. and you only had a little smoke on startup!?

still not adding up to me
