Well, the good news is they will probably be doing all that while charging rather than after charging so it may be a net save!

Well reality is probably that people that don't use their mirrors won't look at the screen either so no loss.

Probably this is related to regulations, and someone must be working on that.

Saw the vehicle several times on the street, but did not have a chance to drive so far. It still reminds me a bulkier version of the european gen2 focus.
First vehicle delivered was at Cadillac Novi.
My parents bolt EUV has a camera option for the rear mirror. Its weird and plays tricks with your mind. I prefer the standard option

That's because a camera based mirror has a viewing distance of the screen (a foot for center mirror/a few feet for the passenger side mirror), while real mirrors have a viewing distance of dozens of feet, or close to infinity focal point.
This means that looking at a real mirror your eyes don't need to change their focal point but for a camera mirror they do. The older you get, the harder this focal point shift it. This is fine in low speed maneuvers (like a reversing camera) but not ideal in highway situations. AFAIK the US market is yet to approve a camera only mirror system (they can be integrated into a real mirror and toggle between them), and this is one thing that I agree with (vs. quite a lot of other US-only regulation for cars that don't make sense).

You can get a $5500 rebate in exchange for sharing your "Driver Habits".

As first reported by Carsdirect.com, select buyers were offered a $5500 rebate on their vehicle, which the Detroit Free Press reported was on the condition that GM could collect data on how they use their Lyriq. Participants also had to sign a nondisclosure agreement prohibiting them from disclosing their experience with the Lyriq to anyone but GM.

As far as the community can tell, it's only being offered to the ones with the Debut Edition (those that ordered in the 10 minute sell-out in 2021, not the May 19th preorder event) and only by invitation. These are the first folks receiving deliveries (the first few have been dropped in the last two weeks). Mine is not likely to be produced until at least January and maybe later since both AWD and Opulent Blue Metallic are "late availability"

However, if it is extended I would certainly consider it, depending on the terms and conditions.

For one, you would sign an NDA, which to me is always a caution before heading down a road. The fact that you wouldn't be able to publicly talk about your experience with GM kind of throws me off. Leaves room for interpretation that some shady things could be happening and you would be SOL about pursuing legal action. Or things could go incredibly good.

Apparently GM is wanting to monitor the select group to improve the interfaces and make sure the vehicle is acting as described, typical early development beta stuff for me.

I've signed probably 10 to 12 NDAs every year for the last 40 years for one thing or another (mostly software and hardware) so these aren't unfamiliar to me. I'm also not very litigious, so it would have to be something way off the rails before I would even consider a lawsuit. I suppose if maybe it burned my house down...

Is not a bad idea in essence. I think this should be practiced by more manufacturers, then again, so many things could go wrong and it would be a huge liability. But I have to say I can respect GMs for wanting to make sure they put out a quality product on the streets.

Customer deliveries are starting to pick up for the Debut Edition (ordered in 9/2021). Expectations are that once the US battery factory opens this month production will start to ramp up. There has also been an unexpected "parts constraint" which supposedly been resolved in the past couple of weeks. The Debut Edition only came in two colors Satin Steel Gray, and Black.

As an aside, someone needs to tell Jay it's "Blackwing" not "Batwing". I think the Engineer in this video was too in awe to correct him!
