OP is just a fucking troll here. No one could work 55 hours a week and maintain a full time student status at the same time.
He is probably skipping classes.
That's not true, I worked 50+ hours per week and had 19 credit hours during one quarter of my college career, just so I could save up and study abroad. it is possible, but it takes a lot of determination

You'll take a financial hit to your initial $5K investment but it is better to do this than pay a ridiculous amount per month to just "Lease" the car.
Also, if you notify the leasing company of your loss of insurance, they may be forced to have you covered. It'll increase your premiums, but possibly by a lower margin

he commented on this 5 days ago wanting to know the price damage because he got in a similar wreck. he seems legit to me. But everybody is correct, you are extremely spoiled and treated to fairly by your parents. You dont appreciate their money or any safety or common sense in the rules of driving. You have the extreme label of the typical kid peeling out of high school acting like a jackass trying to look cool causing more damage and harm then anything else on the road. you are 20 years old and this is your 5th car Im assuming because you wrecked 4 past cars. any other teenage would not get a chance at more cars. If they wreck the first, then they are cut off. I knew a kid same age, 20, and hes on his 4th car because he ****s around to much. He finds it amusing but hes a looser pot head kid.

If you are serious about this how are you still driving? I mean, how do you still have a drivers license?

No offense but you should be riding public transportation or taking a bus.

This is the reality:

- You are lucky that your license isn't suspended.
- You are classified as a reckless driver, based on your driving history.
- You can't afford to drive a nice car like an FR-S right now, at least for a few years until your records expire from DMV database.
- Own up to your recklessness and become a more responsible adult, at least when driving a car.
- Buy a car with insurance rate that you can afford.

I'm only using my parents name, NONE of their money. I'm not spoiled because I work hard for everything. My parents had a '91 Camry to offer me but I said F*** that, I'd rather work my ass off between classes and get a nice reliable car. People assume that I'm on my 4th car, but the FR-S was my 2nd. All the other wrecks were very minor..I bought the Trans Am for $2800, got in 3 wrecks and didn't fix it, then sold it for $2500. I don't know anybody else my age who works as hard as I do.

simple... insurance companies think your shouldn't be driving and I agree with them. I'm glad you can't afford insurance cuz you are a wreck-less driver.

I did...

and if he continue to drive like that, and to have a car/insurance he can't afford, he's gonna be a great one...

maybe i'm hard on him.... but in his first post, he seemed like one... and showed no intention of acting more responsible...

to the op, if you do want to be responsible, good for you, only advice i have, is sell this car, or the only thing you'll do, is to work your ass off everyday to pay it...

-Since I have a bad record, my dad has insurance on the car but I drive.
-I'm a full time student
-I work 55 hours a week making minimum wage.
-I've been leasing the FR-S for 7 months

So a few days ago I rear ended a car and caused 7k worth of damage to my love. Insurance is fixing the car but I will have to get my own insurance. I've gotten quotes at around $800 per month! As a student, I can't afford to pay over $1100 per month to drive this awesome car. Since this car is leased, what options do I have? I can't imagine working all summer to buy a POS Civic and still pay $300 per month for liability. I'd appreciate any kind of advice.
Advice you say?

Ride this for a decade.

Then try easing back into a 4 wheeled vehicle.
