So glad not to be driving a CUV with a cvt anymore. Got my car back this evening. Long push in the track button and a bit of the long way home to forget how dull that fucking rental was. Now to get reimbursed for everything.

I would consider the base carpeting getting wet and in turn potentially causing mold growth underneath to be a "real lasting effect."

Who knows what problems could creep up and how long it will take them to surface. Then years down the line you'll have to prove it was due to the water and the company might no longer be in business. I would attempt to get replacement price for the vehicle. |

A one time soaking from some nice clean rain that doesn't sit for a long period is not an is not an issue. It is a car not a Mogwai.

Respectfully disagree. Any water saturation of the car's base carpeting is cause for concern and a source of potential mold growth.

Get a $15 can of basement dry and stick it on the passenger side floor. Any moisture left behind will be gone in three days.

i'd just make sure the insurance had it in their records. if there's no problem later, it's one line item in a record that gets buried. if it's a problem, it CYA enough that you shouldn't need to pay out of pocket for the issue that arises.

Who's the one over reacting here? Cause it looks like it's you - like you just can't let this go for some reason and admit that there's differing opinions about this topic. You're also assuming additional details that the OP never mentioned. Let's re-read his post: "Went something like this this rainy morning: “Hello, unfortunately we left the windows down in your car and it’s filled with water. We sent it out to be detailed. Very sorry.”" There's no pertinent information regarding amount of time that passed from the rain's start nor the duration that the water sat inside the car. They also said "filled with water" - which doesn't sound like it was just an hour of weak drizzling that lightly misted the floor's carpets. Frankly I don't understand why you're pulling the "it's just a little water, ya *****" act and dying on a hill about this. It's simply incorrect to say "Suck it out with a vacuum leave the windows down for a couple of hours and bingo as good as new." - no, it's not "good as new", not by a long shot.
