EcuTek: Is there a way to limit throttle opening ?

Hi guys!

I've recently buy the K&N Typhoon intake system for the FR-S. ECU is still learning for the MAF scalling but I'm impress how close from stock it is (.5 to 4.5 LTFT correction now). Work great for nerly all driving situation except one: Low rpm WOT in 1st gear (Below 2000RPM). The problem is air turbulance from the MAF being to close from the throttle body. But I really want to keep this intake.

I've used Shiv fuel map to soften the bug, but it still there.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87182

If I apply like 20% of throttle input in this zone, the problem is not present and car run fine.

So there is my question: Is there a way to limit throttle opening in a RPM specific section with EcuTek?

Thanks for your help !

The simple answer is yes and it can be done with any tuning solution by playing with the requested torque values in the DBW tables. Implementing it seamlessly would take time and testing.

With ECUtek and custom maps you could easily limit accelerator pedal per RPM/Speed/Gear etc.

Do you have access to Custom Maps? If so there is a really simple way to do it.

However I'll go through a possible way to do it on any platform:

Open the Accelerator Pedal to Desired Torque table (SI Drive Map on ECUtek). The X Axis is the pedal and Y Axis is the RPM. In the RPM range you're on about copy the values in the 21% column into all the higher % cells. That means that the following calculations will ask for no more torque than when you push 21% currently. You'll have to smooth the values in between 2000 and 2400 RPM but you might need to have a play to make it work.

Just remember the relationship between the desired torque and the Wide Open Torque Threshold tables.

Why are you going full throttle in first gear below 2000 rpms?

Or just don't floor it if you want to limit the throttle opening?

Everyone has built-in traction control, it's your right foot.

Thanks mate, your help is always appreciated

I do have access to custom map, I only don't have the full raceroms features (4 swichable map, speed density tuning etc...)

But theirs 2 throttle body table. One is called " Accelerator Pedal to Desired Torque #1" and the other one " Accelerator Pedal to Desired Torque - SI drive mode S". The SI drive mode: Is it releated to the "Sport" mode ?

I'm maybe wrong, I'm just asking in case.

@OkieSnuffBox, in some "f*ck, I've engaged in the road but the other guy goes way more more faster than what I taught" situation you don't have time to think "I must not slap the throttle WOT". It's only a precaution :P

By custom maps I meant the RaceROM upgrade.

#1 may be cruise control or even not used. I'm fairly certain that SI Drive is the normal pedal to desired tq table. Pedal maping doesn't change in sport mode.

Okay, because when I've copy/paste the data from the OFT Rom, the "Accelerator Pedal to Desired Torque #1" was modified but not the other one.

I'll try this and I'll give you some update
