Are you trail braking into the corner ? Also wouldn't a less aggressive rear pad cause less rotation

It just won't have the full data overlay, because I can't be assed to try and load that many gigs of video into my phone to let RaceChrono process it, and I still have a lot of work to do for anything custom. Or maybe RaceRender can do what I need? I'm not sure I want to see my oil pressure drops anyway.
This is why I went with an Aim system. Solo 2 dl and smarty cam 3 in my case. All the overlay happens in real time. No starting or stoping either it's all automatic based off GPS. Just run your laps remove the SD card when you get back to the pits and enjoy the show

Does come at a price though

I think it depends who you ask, lol. I'm trying, but the car doesn't really seem to want to do it. Maybe I need to try harder, or maybe I need a setup tweak. Or yeah, maybe I need to try XR2 pads in the rear.

RaceChrono actually works that way if you use the phone's camera. I did that for several events, but I started using the GoPro because my phone mount is rickety, and I wanted a view from farther back to be able to see what my head and hands are doing. RaceChrono has a workflow for importing the GoPro video, but for some reason I decided to record at 2.7K resolution, so the videos are just enormous, like 12GB per session, and my phone doesn't have enough storage to deal with that, lol.

I'm worky, very slowly, on a software package to import the video and do overlays and stuff on my PC. But it's going to take me a very long time, lol. The only nice thing it does right now is to let me compare my RaceChrono data with other people's AIM data.

Very cool getting the live overlay with RaceChrono if you use the built in camera. RaceChrono Seems to be a very popular choice but it’s still not as simple and bullet proof as an Aim setup. But there is a big price gap so maybe not worth the money for some.

Also awesome work being able to compare your data to Aim users! Are you importing your data into race studio to make that happen? Either way good stuff

No, I found a library from AIM to pull data out of their files. So I can import both those and RaceChrono CSV v3 into my custom UI.

A bit of googling brought me to the GitHub repo for the library that is so cool! Had no idea something like that existed.

Good luck with your UI sounds like an awesome project. Thanks for sharing

Got the RaceChrono GoPro import figured out. It's actually pretty straightforward, and not so bad when I'm just grabbing 1-2 vids for the part of my best session that I want to overlay. It's automatic sync from the metadata was not bad, just had to manually shift by maybe half a second to get the steering angle gauge to match the actual steering angle.

Spent some time with DaVinci to do some editing on the video from 2024/05/17.

Not sure it was time well-spent, lol.

Started putting together my new trailer.

It's the 48"x40" from Harbor Freight that I saw a lot of people using as a base for their tire trailer. Normally $399, but I had the 20% any single item from Inside Track club. It's more expensive than it used to be, but it did come with the 12" wheels, where it used to come with 8". Not sure if there are other upgrades.

Quick update: I hemmed and hawed and procrastinated long enough that Curt released a wiring kit for the '24 WRX. I zoomed in and it looked like the plugs were the same as gen 2 BRZ tails, so I ordered one (NAPA had the best price I found and shipping was fast).

I did have to swap some pins around to match the BRZ wiring, but I powered it up with everything just sitting in the trunk, and all the trailer lights seem to be working correctly.

I still need to extend some wires and get things out through the grommets at the back of the trunk, which might require bumper removal. Once I've got it all done, I'll post some pics and commentary on moving the pins around.

I see that you are running the endurance kit, depending on the setup (suspension and tires) you may need to rebalance the rear. If you go to high on rear friction you may loose some modulation, therefore an alternative is to find rear brembos that would bring the system very closely to the OEM setup.

Sorry I missed this. I'll ping Essex and see what they say. With brembos returning as a factory option, maybe they'll be easier to come by.

However, I recently did a track day with fresh new XR2 pads (came as spares with the car, lol) and had the same issues that I had with new XR4s. On the same old rotors both times. In hindsight, I don't think the new pads are bedding properly to the old groovy and lipped rotors. I picked up some new ones, and will re-test both options. But won't hit the track again until next year.

New PB here

Read the video description for more details on car changes and stuff

I still owe y'all some content on trailer wiring.

I saw in your YouTube description you made the rear sway bar stiffer by using a different hole on the rear lower control arm. I don't think I knew I could do that or did and forgot haha. Either way thanks for the tip!

It's a feature of the SPL arms. Not sure what you've got on your car.

Although, given the simple design of the stock arms, it might be possible to drill some additional holes.

Actually, I just realized I can do the same with the bottom end of the shock. I should.play with that to get an idea of what a stiffer spring back there might do.
