You mention seeing a drop due to the JR dual radiator being paired with the OEM exchanger. But I'm not sure you specified what the drop looked like. Was it just a lower overall pressure? Or were the dips worse (longer and lower)?

The pressure drops were from the cornering. The lower overall pressure was due to the JR radiator and oil cooler combo. The instructions suggest to install it along with the stock heat exchanger. We removed the stock heat exchanger to offset the additional resistance caused by the JR cooler.
As mentioned in the video, the JR cooler makes your oil pressure around 30psi lower vs without. Removing the stock HX recovers about 10psi.

Thanks very much for so effectively testing and reporting your results. @blsfrs, did you see this? Starvation issues aside, it looks like your experience with the JR radiator is not unique. I'm more disappointed than surprised. Caveat emptor.

Does that mean pulling the stock HX is worth 10 psi on a stock setup? If so, I'm going to pull it and add a dedicated OC. I know from the 1st gen that the Setrab 613 core is only about a 5 psi restriction (by itself, no lines). Sounds like a dedicated OC would be a better solution (less or comparable restriction, much more cooling).

Yes it does, but the 10psi is done at 95*C oil temp. The difference will be smaller at higher oil temps / lower oil viscosities. You're right about the dedicated cooler, that's what we mention in our recommendations in the video.
BioRebel, check out this post about the JR radiator / cooler combo. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...&postcount=346

Can you take off the heat exchanger carefully so it can be replaced and look like it hasn't been touched if failure happens?

So pretty much, to mitigate the oiling issues on track you need to money dump another what, $5 - $8k in parts im assuming?
Unfortunate.

Where did that price come from?
Just use a good oil and the accusump with install kit is $600. You can skip the baffle. It’s up to you if you want an oil cooler.

Thats the data we collected. We have no reason to make it up. I’ve posted the deltas on the other forum. Feel free to disregard it.
We’re not the only ones that have documented this. https://www.*********/threads/vincen...23/post-150985

Any theories as to what is causing the pressure drop? The pickup is starved of oil, the pump loses prime, etc? If so, where is the oil during the right turn?
PS: Nice video and thanks for doing the work. |
