2017 BRZ steering wheel controls - AUS same as US?

I'm thinking about buying an Australian Kenwood head unit for a US 2017 BRZ. The HU comes with a steering wheel control adapter that is plug and play for an Australian BRZ or 86. I'm trying to figure out if that means it will also be plug and play for a US BRZ. Are there differences between the Australian and US steering control wiring, etc.? Seems like they'd be the same. Anyone know for sure? I'm just talking about the phone and audio controls on the left side of the wheel.

Thanks in advance.

I know this is true of DVDs, which is irrelevant to me as I have no intention of watching movies in the car. Is it also true of audio CDs?
