Some stuffs I've got in Japan

I visited Japan last week. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to see real BRZs in public, but I've got a couple interesting stuffs on 86/BRZ.

1. First, the special issue of "Motor Fan": All about 86

general description about 86

interviews with the 86 developers and engineers

comparison with the competitors

power train

chasis & body, transmission

customization & aftermarket parts (this is most interesting to me )

2. special episode about BRZ (CAR GRPAHIC is a magazine originally, but they have their own tv program as well.) Here are some snapshots.

interview with the executive general manager on product planning at Subaru

test driving impression

history of subaru

we know...

real manufacturing at Gunma

3. and.....this is the greatest stuff for me. I WON A PRIZE from the promotion event of 86 sponsored by J-Wave; one of the major radio stations at Tokyo. "Toyota 86 glass paper weight". Yattahhaa:happy0180:

I am enjoying these stuffs until getting a real BRZ......

Just looking at the pages from that magazine makes you realize how the standard American car rags are written for the "technically challenged" (to put it politely).

Love the paperweight!

This special issue has been just released on Mar 28th. It may take a time for Kinokuniya to import ones.

There is another one, which was sold last year. I couldn't find this one at the book store in Tokyo I went to.

It would be super if Subaru would publish an English version of that magazine. I for one would love to read all that technical stuff.

Yeah, I would also love to have the American car mags dive into more technical details.

Somehow Japanese sports car drivers (maybe including me) are very picky with the quality of every part in a car.

I saw an argument about the 86 transmission last year, not just about its manufature or brand, but more also about which model installed. It turned out Aisin AZ6, which was used for the previous model of Lexus IS, would be applied to the 86. I heard those do not like IS were disappointed at that time...saying it's not good enough for a turbo charger....you cannot install a mechanical LSD......not for grip tires and so on.....

but we see the similar demands here, any publisher should think about that....

that red interior is completely awful and I'm a big fan if red interiors. glad they aren't bringing that to the states. looks like they asked a 14 year old what would look cool and then decided to build that

^Awesome video

I just stopped by the Kinokuniya in Japantown today and I was unable to find that "86" magazine ,
but oddly enough there was magazines dedicated to the "PRIUS" and even the new "IMPREZA" yet
the "86" was no where to be found ...
