Tire fitment issues in the rear

There is only one 245/35/18 200TW option, most go for the Conti ECS or the Yok Apex V601. So there is a slight stretch that clears the inner fender.

So I've been thinking about a track set up.


I refuse to trim fenders and I don't particularly like spacers.


Given the geometry changes from coilovers and rear LCAs, would this theoretically work?


17x8 +35 on 245/40 R17

~2.5* front camber

~1.5* rear camber

Thank you for the response. I currently am rocking the wheels with 225/40s but want a tad more meat. Just didn't want to worry about the rear if I went up a couple of sizes. I noticed quite a few Track cars in Japan with same size wheels were rocking 235/40s but like you mentioned, those low TW tires run larger.

Who makes 17x8 +35 wheels? Sounds like a good size.
I feel like this would work, but I don't know personally.
235/40 R17 would be a bit safer.
Might need a bit more camber. 3* front & 2* rear.

For gen2, 245/40/17 is pretty ideal with the criteria of not trimming rear fenders. 235/40/17 is a compromise, go for a offset that works for 245 instead. +42 ish (no less) is good. For example arc8 17x9 +42, or if you want a safer fit, go +45 or even +48 but that is going into the territory of needing front spacers. +35 requires rlca, +42 does not. For a casual track car the natural rear camber regardless of drop height is good enough, usually that comes out to -2.1ish for a 25mm drop. As for front camber, it depends, here is ballpark of what I would do (assuming car is daily 15k a year):
10 track days a year: -2.7
25 track days a year: -3.5
40+ track days a year: -4.2

Rpf1 is available in 17x8 +35 which is ideal for MANY reasons from a track wheel perspective

Appearance (convex instead of concave) is irrelevant to me for a track wheel. Function over form.

I run 245-40 R17 on 17x8 +45 right now on my street setup no issues w the fat tire.

Installed 18x9 +47 Titan7s with 245/35/18 on stock suspension. Rear fits flush and no rubbing. About 3-4mm between front wheels and the strut with a 5mm spacer. Fronts had minor poke, but is now flush after fitting Pedders top hats.

Here is a quick picture over the weekend. Also, added another view since a few others have asked for pictures.

Who started using the word fitment when squeezing tires onto a car? Why do we not use it when we are assessing how our pants fit? Or shoes fit? Always been curious. If you look it up it in the dictionary it doesn't seem to mean at all what people use it as.

Just slang derived from the term "fit", in its verb state of form meaning "to conform correctly to the shape or size of" according to a dictionary.

So how well a wheel/tire "fits" on the car based on a variety of factors. Some these days even go as far as calling the wheels/tires on their vehicle shoes, which would further fortify the concept you question.

But in reality, the term fitment does not come from the term fit.

There is no official "verb" form of fitment, that I can find. More just bastardized usage, like people saying "irregardless" when they mean "regardless."

It's a noun that means a fixed piece of furniture, like a cabinet or a piece of machinery.

I didn't say verb form of fitment, but rather verb form of fit. As I mentioned, fit and fitment are two completely different terms.
